  1. Starting to wear earplugs was one of the best decisions I've made and I won't go clubbing without some now. I too have suffered hearing loss from DJing and clubbing and it was completley preventable. I generally use two pairs: the Audio Relief ER-20 which were designed to cut the frequencies in a clean way and some basic M3 Foam ones. The ER-20s give a higher sound quality, but get uncomfortable to wear quickly. The foam ones are comfortable but muffle the sound. All told I prefer the foam ones. I don't mind the muffled sound; at most decent night clubs the music is so loud you can feel the kick drum let alone hear it and when something is that loud it is painful and distorts anyway. These earplugs look worth a try though - thanks for the link.
  2. Fair enough mate. If the red & black reunion night last weekend was anything to go by though, this should be a great night.
  3. Either you changed the recording or I had a corrupt file, but I have re-downloaded this set without any skipping. Thanks to all involved - well worth a listen.
  4. Jules is doing a 1998-2000 classics set for GC's 23rd Birthday. This may interest many of the regulars here; may be nice to have some informal meetup? Some extracted info form some circular emails I have been sent. 5. Both nice choices from Marcus! Would have been interesting to hear the rest of that mix.

  7. Almost certanly the compilation was Judge Jules & Boy George ‎– The Annual IV (1998) (Discogs). Featurs Discocop and was very successful commercially, just before MoS reached the height of thier powers.
  8. Too little, too late with this one. I'd rather listen to the Charity Board Mix: link.
  9. Neither Jules or Norman at their finest though I remember listening to the whole show live. An interest piece for the Jules' enthusiasts only I would say.
  10. Not generally a fan of Jules' shows this late into his Radio 1 career, but co-presenting with Ferry works really well. A good listen. Both great tunes.
  11. Much maligned yes, but there were, and still are much worse out there. I remember 'Dangerous' Dave getting so much heat back in the day. Retrospectively, I think he really wasn't that bad. Certainly a play to the crowd DJ.
  12. I'd bet the majority of peeps, with exceptions of course, are around that bracket here.
  13. Sundissential, now that is a name I haven't heard spoken in some time! https://soundcloud.com/djadamm/sundissential-classics-mixed
  14. Ha ha! Yeah you and me both, Burien. I can warm up if you want. :whistling:
  15. Awesome pic there. Nearly thirty years old.
  16. Bit late on a school night, but will check this out tomorrow. Looks like a great vid.
  17. Welcome to the club!
  18. The advert it's self was rather awesome too.
  19. Thanks for you thoughts. Needle and cart combo makes a massive difference. I noticed a huge jump when I switched from Stantons to Ortofon Concorde Nightclub many years ago. Personally, I will be keeping any digitisations in archive as I'll probably end up getting a digital vinyl system. Even if not there is less friction to creating a new copy if I break/lose a CD brun. The other question is, do you record the whole vinyl or selective mixes? The OCD part of me is screaming out that a whole release must be recorded, but the rational thing to do is only record the mixes I know I like.
  20. Jase, slightly off topic, but I will be digitising my colection at somepoint in the not too distant future. What setup are you using? Also, are you burning to CD or keeping in digital format?
  21. I was! I still have the T shirt somewhere and possibly the programme. I'll see what I can find.
  22. Best description of Jules' unique style that I have heard in a long time. As for the mix in the original post, not heard, but it is on my list to acquire.
  23. Pat on the back for not starting a new thread asking the same question again (and again and again...)
  24. Great work, Burien. You really have to respect the fact that, as a community, we are filling in these blanks almost 20 years later!
