  1. damn! but R1 haven't had a big shake up yet...When we were in Ibiza, we bumped into Jules, my mate got the obligatory photo with him, he still has time for people which a lot of DJ's dont, and i respect that. I also have to pay homage to Jules for opening the ears and getting me into house. I guess i have just completely outgrown his sound, and now prefer the more straight "underground" (yuk i hate that phrase) sound. I think Briggsy has nailed it with his post though, tbh.
  2. Guys, i hate to say it, but i told you so! I got this 2 years ago, and could rate it high enough. So so good. Stables and powerful. All the big guns were using it in Ibiza this year. Is Jules still sticking to just CD's?
  3. I like this, i've always thought you have a similar approach/taste to myself. You've inspired me to do a trance classics vinyl only mix now...
  4. Blimey, where do you start? tbh its ever looked gid since the Rob Green incident. Why is Heskey starting? Surely its time to start with Crouch who has an impressive international to goal ratio. I also agree with Joe Cole starting. Why isnt he even coming on? I dont think the formation suits some of the key players either. I'd like to see Rooney up front on his own, with Gerrard playing just behind him. This system has worked before for England, so why cant it work again?

    Advice please

What does one of them look/act like then?
  6. So i've been goofing around with some bass heavy tunes. Some House, Dubstep and a sprinkling of D&B. Check the last track, its a beaut.
  7. Jase, plz do a Loop Da Loop speed garage mix. I'd be up for that, especially if you throw Kings Of Rhythm "Bomb Da Loop" in there! Doooooo IT! How come you're struggling with 2 step?
  8. Jase, do it man, i'd be interested to hear it!
  9. Thank you sir... 1. Gabrielle "Sunshine" (Wookie Remix) [GO Beat! 1999] 2. Y Tribe "Joyrider" (Artful Dodger 2k Mix) [VC Recs 2000] 3. Doolally "Straight From The Heart" (Original Mix) [XL Recs 1999] 4. Kristine Blond "Loveshy" (Club Asylum Mix) [Relentless 2000] 5. Christian Falk feat. Demetrius "Make It Right" (Tru Faith Remix) [London Recs 2000] 6. Danny J Lewis "Spend The Night" (H-Mans Groove) [XL Recs 1998] 7. Artful Dodger feat. Romina Johnson "Movin' Too Fast" [Original 12" Mix) [XL Recs 1999] My tunes arent stored in anyway, i have more UK Garage but could only find these ones in a short space of time. Its great fun to mix though
  10. Something different for the JJA possee's and massives. Dont know if you lot like it or not, but i do love a bit of UK Garage. It's great fun to cut, chop and blend aswell. Here's a lil' 30 minute mix for y'all. I did it in one go and its mixed straight off vinyl...no Serato, no cd's. I forgot how reliant i am on time remaining, and waveforms! https://soundcloud.com/budders/uk-garage-mix-mixed-by-buddaz
  11. I was listening to EZ on Kiss FM whilst at the gym. I flicked over once EZ had finished, but this really doesnt inspire me anymore im afraid! Even the backroom 2 werent as good as what they normally are. Those J&T mashups really are something tho, quite who gives them the "good response" is anyones guess.

Tonight on DJ EZ's show on Kiss FM (which i now listen to instead of Jules!) his Traktor Scratch crashed! he then played some CD's whilst rebooting Traktor....then the CD got stuck in the CDJs, making that horrible skipping noise. Proof if it were ever needed, that nothing is really more stable than the other.
  13. Some of the tunes im feeling this month... http://soundcloud.com/budders/june-2010-mix-mixed-by-buddaz I'll bang up a tracklistings soon...
  14. Pure Garage & Pure Garage 2 mixed by EZ :)

very easy. It has quite a large processor footprint so you need a good processor, whereas Traktor likes a lot of RAM. I use Serato when i play out now, and am finding that more an more places have got the SL1 soundcard already installed, so its a matter of turning up, plugging in your laptop and away you go. As for mixing, there is literally no difference to cd's/vinyl whichever you use to control it. Its amazing, i dont think i could go back to vinyl/cd's only now. Serato doesnt do any beatmatching for you, you still do all that, it literally allows you to play mp3s using technics/cdj's to control everything. You can loop, scratch and record on the fly into it and playback instantly. Instant doubles, full detailed waveform, and now with version 2.0, effects are being added. As for the checking emails thing, err no i dont, and as for the old "tsk tsk yeah but laptops crash", well i've never had this yet either, and i'm yet to see any laptop dj crash yet.
  17. I really wanted to go to this and was all set too, but 2 weeks ago at work, i got a new shift pattern, and had to work friday till 2200hrs, instead of the 1700hrs i was expecting to work. Sadly i couldnt get the time off either, so had to bail on it. Looked good though, the pics look cool and it looked like you all had a good time. Re the bootlegs, i cant for the life of me see why Jules plays them, he must be so blind to the damage they do. Nice to hear Mickey Slim bringing the bass tho, top DJ he is.

I find CDJs harder to mix on. The main reason being, they're too sensitive and i dont like the +- 10%. I learned on 8% pitch and know it. I also prefer to "ride" the pitch when mixing. Meaning i got used to moving the pitch slightly when mixing, with CDJ's its nearly impossible to ride the pitch due to the level of sensitivity. I also find CDJs drift after a while, and its harder to get the mix locked again by "riding" the pitch - this is why i use Serato with technics...best of both worlds. Also with Serato, you dont have to worry about tracks skipping in "Relative" mode, yet get all the features and more, of a CDJ. Pitch riding lends itself well to new environments aswell, like the aforementioned speakers. I dont really hav a problem with different speakers or bigger rooms, just if a booth hasnt got a set of technics in...then i start to worry!
  19. some of these look fantastic. I will nab some of these. Good work. Club 97 sounds a lot like Vibe FM (East Anglia) used to be like - local dj's mixing these type of tunes for an hour on the "Vibe Zone" with Just Glyn. Happy daze.
  20. is chilling, getting all nostalgic by listen to Behind The Sun by Chicane

  21. Yeah, Technics an Serato Scratch Live. I mix by "riding the pitch", on CDJ's, due to their level of sensitivity, its bloody hard on them. So Tech's it is.
  22. jego Polska , nie Rosjanin! <----- i think those are the correct spellings
  23. I love the way EZ mixes. His shows are actually very good, i'm not the biggest bassline/uk garage fan, but it makes a change to hear something different.
  24. Cheers guy. I didnt know you cant get Kiss Fm in de luvly Oireland. I have recorded the mix from the radio anyway, and preserved it on my favourite website right now...Soundcloud... Enjoy
  25. spot on mate. I dont even bother listening to Jules anymore. I put Kiss on to listen to EZ from 2300hrs, i'll tune back to R1 for the Essential Mix though. Mashups have completely killed Jules in my opinion; they're just not needed imo, there is good music out there, just look for it, he must get sent loads of tunes aswell, but knocks them back for mashups. Jules has just lost his way so much, his sound hasnt progressed for the last 4 years, he isnt evolving or staying current either.
