  1. i am mixing mine now, with a heavy hangover from last nights stag do! About half way through it, should sound interesting. :blackeye:
  2. yeah RAMsterdam has to be up there with the best this year. Great tune.
  3. i lol'd at that. It was f****** funny and i dont know why.
  4. Here here, England = Epic fail. I love how nearer the time, people will be driving with those flags in their cars, sales of the football strip go through the roof, the re-re-re-release of "3 lions" and everyone blabs about 1966. ...then there's the golden moment when everyone quits their jibba jabba when we inevitably fail at penalties. God i love the world cup.

    Sport!!

ooh i thought this was a homage to my favourite tabloid - the daily sport. Nothing beats a copy of the daily sport full of top heavy lovelies, a fry up in a greasy spoon and the weekend impending!
  6. lol, how do you think i feel, supporting The Posh!
  7. I concur brother. Oooh you cant beat a good bit of sex. It sorts you out! :shifty:

  9. Italy. They are strong throughout their whole team, their defense, as ever, is rock solid. It wont be England, we'll do Quarters at best. As soon as we lose Rooney (it will happen through injury or cards) we just have no spark or inspiration.

    World Cup Draw

i'm confident we'll top our group. The only team i'm worried about is the Yanks. They're no longer the pushover they once were. They take "soccer" quite seriously these days.
  11. this wa my first port of call, but the file has been removed from ALL(!) the links
  12. did anyone record this perchance? its a really good show, i need it on the pod.
  13. i'm sure i remember hearing this at the time. It was shortly after i passed my dirving test and i was just cruising around aimlessly. I say this because i remember the comment after the System F track, for some reason - it may have been has i had bought the System F track that day, i remember. I never thought i'd hear this again. Also, my 19th was the following day, a quiet night on friday and a hectic one at Passion, i think it was the following night. Its not a bad show tbh. The half mix aint bad either. Thanks for the upski.
  14. i thought that was a good show, the 30 min mix particularly good.
  15. people slate them, but HTFR do blank sleeves. I like the plain white cardboard ones. I tried my Secret Santa mix on Tuesday, nailed it, though Audacity "Stopped working" so the program quit on me without allowing me to save the mix. I was so f*cking p***ed off as i nailed every mix spot on and was very pleased with it. I tried again today, but this week, am having trouble finding time to do it due to work. Hopefully, i'll have it done by tomorrow.
  16. Thats spot on that, mate. Thats the beauty of the archives, and to some extent, Simcuts collection. It also gives us the chance to get a feel for the culture and the vibe of the time (well it does me anyway). Its funny how obvious the classics are now, but at the time, we knew when we heard them, how special some of these tracks were, but often when they were breaking, people wouldn't know what they were.
  17. oh god yes! a great tune, but isnt it a bar out or something. Highly annoying. There was something about the last half sequence of Ferry Corsten "Rock Your Body Rock" too, which made it annoying to mix out of. David Forbes "Questions", i remember that being awkward to mix into, as were some of Darren Tates bigger productions which had really short intros to them, meaning they dropped into the main part of the tune after about 30 seconds!
  18. i can't believe this little gem has been missed. I'm gonna bag this after work tomorrow, it looks quite good. Cheers for the upload bruvva I actually remember taping this one at the time (its a day before my birthday, i went out that night - cant remember where though). Coco vs. Aptness for the win people!
  19. So, we're nearly through the decade. It's been good hasn't it? We've seen some big changes, vinyl moving onto CDJ's and now laptops. If you'd have said that would have happened 10 years ago, you'd have got laughed at. We've seen the rise and fall of the superstar DJ and things generally, just going back to being grass roots DIY again. The music has certainly changed too. Tunes are made almost entirely differently too. Now pretty much anyone can make a tune if they persist with it a little bit. We now buy records over the internet (long gone are record shops - which i sorely miss, so does dance music). I didn't think i'd be still into this dance music stuff, but i am. I thought i'd be married with kids by now, but i'm not. I still eagerly check the online dance specialists every other day for new tracks. I can't shake my love of dance music off. We've had the obligatory lovers tiff, but i've always come back. I just can't resist the house metronome. Because of dance music, i've met some great people who are still friends, who i would have otherwise not met. I have had some great nights DJing in Peterborough and Cambridge too, which i hope will continue. I broke my Ibiza cherry in 2000, had some of the most amazing nights and experiences at Gatecrasher, Cream, Passion, Ministry. Memories from this decade which will stick with me, i just wish i took more photos! Then of course, there the music, central to everything.... We've had some crackers havent we? Zombie Nation "Kernkraft 400" from 2000 (officially), i got the white label back end of 1999, and dared to play it at one of my first gigs before it broke. Cue puzzled faces everywhere. A personal favourite of mine, Toca's Miracle. Had many a good night out to this and many memories attached to this track. The delight at Sonique getting to number 1, as did Chicane and Bryan Adams - WOW! Dance music was hoooooge. 2001 and 2002 it kinda went tribal-ly, too much so for me. I felt generally, the tone of music was a little darker. These years did spawn some good uns though; Motivation "Para Mi", PPK "ResuRection", Kosheen "Hide U", Iio "Rapture", Riva "Stringer", Together "So Much Love To Give" X-Press 2 "Lazy". Who can forget the rise and rise of the likes of Flip N Fill and the cartoony AATW sound? Danny Rampling left radio 1! 2003-2004, i remember the rise of a more funky, electro sounding house. Room 5 "Make Luv", Shapeshifters "Lola's Theme", Eric Prydz "Call On Me", Junior Jack "Stupid Disco", Benni Benassi "Satisfaction", Tim Deluxe "Just Wont Do", Boogie Pimps "Somebody To Love" etc etc. I remember listening to Fergie ("with this weeks special guest Phil Kieran" - who went on to be the special guest pretty much every other week!) on radio 1 a lot around this time. 2005-2006; Electro house really started to come through. This for me was a weak time for dance. IT felt like it didnt know where it wanted to go. This was when i really started playing out a lot. It was also when i made the switch to CDJs. 2007-2008; Minimal techno, i quite like it, but couldn't listen to it all night, and you have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it. Electro house seems to be still hanging in there too. Mashups tend to be the big thing of the moment. Micky Slims "Jump" being a standout track. 2009; The funky sound seems to be coming back, which is all good by me. It's been srely missed. Annie Mac replacing Pete Tong! What!?! NOOOooo! i'll stop now, this post is getting to be massive. But add you memories, thoguhts and favourite tunes from this decade here...

    DJ Hero

The point is, mates round, drink flowing freely, having a go on this then off out with mates. Its a laugh. Much like Guitar hero. We all know it's not really much like proper DJing, but its a game. Ohh and another point, this might just get "your kid" into DJing. Surely thats no bad thing is it? I know i'd rather kids being introduced to djing through games like this and listening to music like this, rather than x-factor billox. So, i put to you, purpose served.
  21. one tune like this that i think of immediately is Guru Josh Project "Infinity 2008" (Klaas Mix). I got this before it got signed, so i dont know if it was ever corrected, but the mix out point, the bars are all over the place. You have to "offset" by 2 bars so it all falls into place. I fell foul of this whilst playing a few times last year. Tracks which start one bar off are annoying aswell. Tunes i hate mixing though, are ones where the bass line starts at the first beat. A recent example of this is the Sidney Samson "Riverside" (now huuuuge at last!) track. The Lange Mix of Ian Van Dahl "Will I" was another example of that. Of course we all know fade in/outs are the most unfriendly type of tunes for us DJ's.
  22. do the ladies have an equivalent in their toilets do you think? If so, what do they say?
