  1. This is the set that inspired me to become a DJ. I had only 45 minutes on tape recorded on a mates stereo at halls in Uni. I had no tracklisting but a week later a DJ in the union played one of the tracks (Boccaccio Life) and I asked about it, he showed me the Neo Recrodings sleeve and said that you could only get it on vinyl. I went to 3 HMVs until I found and bought it. I had no record player, but the track was too important not to own. The rest is history. I can't believe I can listen to this again - and hear the rest of the set I missed out on when the tape ran out! I am so grateful!
  2. Yep, Pvd was the first hour jules the second, but he was actually on the flyer for a 2 hour set but only got through the EM (the important bit I guess?) and then had to hand over to hardwick. It was an awesome night. White Bird is one of my most prized vinyls!
  3. Judge Jules was so drunk that he only played the essential mix for an hour then stopped. He was supposed to be on for another hour but couldn't continue. His shout outs on the mic were hilarious. Matt Hardwick stepped in and played until the sun came up. It was amazing. That's where I heard Vanessa Mae - White Bird (Cosmic Gate Remix) for the first time. I searched for a whole summer for a copy. Greatest breakbeat moment in a track there has ever been. Unforgettable. From that day to this I've always known that you can rely on Matt Hardwick. I miss the lineups of those days. Hardwick, Jules, Bond, PvD, Tall Paul... so good. GCSSS01 was brilliant.
  4. That night at Crasher was a mixture of triumph and disaster - the Chemical Brothers seemed to blow the right speaker stack, but when tall Paul came on after and played Lizard it was all forgotten - as long as you were on the left! Then some idiot climbed the rigging at midnight and interrupted PvD (who punched the climber in the face after security coaxed him down). He said on the mic how he'd been working on the midnight track for months. Sadly it turned out to be a Robbie Williams "Millennium" mashup... then we waited ages for For an Angel... Such a cold night too - and the "temperature controlled" largest tent in the world - the "Tensile 1" was open air and it was freezing! People ended up climbing into the broken speaker stacks to keep warm next to the generators. When Jules came on I was hoping he could save the last part of the night - and save it he did! Transa - "Supanova", Rank 1 - "Airwave" amazing stuff. I'd only managed to find Airwave that week on import from Holland. Still got those vinyls. Great memories - thanks for sharing the set! Also, on the Eye-to-Eye - it was a Lange/Alex Gold collab I think after the success of the bootleg and Xtravaganza signing it. Alex Gold did a set at my Uni and hammered the track about 3 times in one night.
