We would discourage members from posting any email addresses on a public messageboard, since it is widely known automated spambots do scour threads on the web to 'lift' and use any text that looks like an email address to send spam to, meaning you could expose yourself to unneccessary spam emails in the future by posting here or in any other public forum. The bots cannot read images though, which is why on facebook (for example) your email address in your profile is displayed as an image... Just a forewarning! Another way to do this is to create a quick-loading webpage, with the link to the mp3, and then browse to it on your WAP-enabled phone. Then save the file in your tones folder, if you have a Nokia, and select it as your ringtone. KR

You might have mis-copied the final youtube code there so the video doesn't work - can you recheck? KR

Just on that note, we encode the unknown clips sent to us in 96kbps deliberately because it produces a very low quality sound, so it takes up less space but is still adequate for computer speakers. KR

O2 are unrivalled in my opinion. Most of my colleagues are on the network too, and they do good business deals. KR

The hungriest resource eater by far is the MySQL database which stores and runs this messageboard; it is forever getting larger and larger and I imagine if/when we do move over to a dedicated server it will be because of this growth. The actual disk space for all the tracklists and other components only amounts to 8GB tops. For convenience and bandwidth issues we locate all our audio for this messageboard in Denmark with thanks to FuzzY-LogiC's dedicated server over there for which we are eternally grateful. On the other hand, the BBC's various archives for sound and vision are too huge to imagine, but then again they are split up into different sections. Their sound archives go right back to the early days of radio, but I believe that since about 2003 they no longer archive every single minute of every single radio show, at least, not on Radio 1 (i.e. the quality is just not worth saving!).

We have not changed anything on the server since December 10th, so I am unsure as to why you are not able to stay logged in. We have a security setting which logs you out if you try to login on 2 computers at the same time... it would be very helpful if other people could report their current logging in statuses!
