  1. Newcastle are in the process of making all their residential streets 20mph (enforceable) zones. Quite how it will be enforced is another matter, but its a good move and will hopefully save a lot of lives. If traffic signals on long urban roads were phased so that once you had gone through one set and stayed within the speed limit, you would not arrive at a red signal until you turned off that route, it would encourage people to stay within the limits. How many times does someone overtake you, but end up just a car in front of you at the next junction? Sometimes it just isn't worth it.
  2. Wow - I never thought this thread would generate so much interest, but thanks for the help. I thought I was 'caught' by a mobile camera van, so I would expect the officer (are they real ones in these vans?) to process the film that day. Here's hoping.. I agree that speed limits need reviewing in the UK. They date back to the 60s when there weren't the number of vehicles there are now. Open single carriageways are all 60mph for cars, unless signed otherwise. This is totally inadequate as often these roads are twisty country roads. Similarly, motorways have a 'design speed' of around 85mph, and yet they have legal limits of 70mph. All very strange. The problem with variable limits (ie different at night) becomes confusing for the driver unless they have variable signing, which becomes expensive to operate and maintain. No easy answer I guess.
  3. I understand The Holly does the ITV2 sister show of X Factor. Never seen it mind
  4. Hmm, Aza seemed to think that they had to issue it within 14 days  If they took 6 months, I think I would have good justification to say I can't remember who was driving!
  5. I'm scared to update you on this, but so far, the postie hasn't brought a speeding ticket my way...lets hope it stays that way.
  6. If it encourages kids to get into dance music, or even mixing in general, I'm all for it

    eBay

When things don't work out as expected, its always better to contact the seller first as this gives them a chance to put things right. Also, when you leave them neutral feedback, it does what it says on the tin - neither a positive or a negative score is left. I should add that I did receive a refund for the book that I went off on one about at the start of this thread.
  8. I've just listened to Matt's mix and there's some memories coming flooding back from it! Haven't heard The Journey in a long time. Spot on mixing, but it seemed a bit distorted to me, but that could just be problems my end. Fantastic stuff
  9. This thread should be deleted to avoid giving it further publicity
  10. Hahaha! The very set of stairs that Little Steve fell down I sooo miss Promise. They were awesome nights out
  11. What annoys me is all the publicity, clearly 'leaked' through Cowell to get people talking about the whole thing even more. You've got to give it to Cowell though, he knows how to make money out of this whole thing and unfortunately I don't see an end to it. Its global appeal is outstanding and seems to be self-fuelled. I don't want to generalise, but women / girls (probably more the latter) just can't get enough of X-Factor and could quite easily spend all day talking about it too. I was well pleased that Geraldine's single beat Leon in the charts. In a year's time you won't hear of him. Cowell must have been gutted when he won it and had to put money behind him. I barely listen to 'music' radio these days, preferring to listen to 5 Live which I actually get something out of on the way to work.
  12. Doesn't Jules edit most tracks so that they are at length more suitable to his sets? Or am I still in the dak ages??
  13. ..or just to enjoy some decent grub, have a few drinks and sit playing board games  I barely watch any telly these days. You can end up wasting so much of your life watching soaps...and for what gain?
  14. There is an element of commercial gain to it, but it brings families together...maybe for a good argument, but it brings them together. Its also a good break from work where most people are off, unless you're in retail in which case its a nightmare.
  15. Really impressive with the amount of board members this year getting plays on Jules's show
  16. ...or should that be 'MP3' Glad to hear you're more yourself now What did you get up to last night?
  17. Hi Jonnie and welcome to the board. You can download the set you're after at: http://www.alldj.org/index.php?name=News&a...e&sid=12969 Enjoy
  18. Forget the bumbag, I've got far more serious issues with the clothing!
  19. Coming to the end of another mix with some wicked tunes in it. OK, so there's a few dropped beats in it, but the transition points are on the money and the flow runs superbly Another enjoyable hour of dancing round the spare room Haven't heard Voodoo in ages!!
