No, i didn't go in the end. I did see a clip of JJ set at The Cheese & Grain from last year Moments before the drop of Ayla (the best bit), he played a long drawn out jingle "throw your hands in the air" I mean, wtf. Glad I didn't go!

This is still a great forum. Even though there isn't much activity anymore. I have been a member for a couple of years, i was a member even further back, but forgot my log in details. I have been looking through old posts, there has been lots of interesting reading material! Not to mention listening to all the old sets and radio shows from the Judge, and paying attention to the tracklists. Just so i can purchase great tunes i haven't heard before. Just to feed the vinyl addiction. Jules is playing a 2 hour set near me next weekend. (Probably a classics mix) Tempted to go solo. But if he's going to play jingles and "Put your hands in the air" voice overs - i don't think i'll bother. I tuned in to one of his weekend warm ups the other day, and i was bored! I yearned for a bit of banging house like the old days! He still sounds great over the airwaves though. Kudos to the ones who created this forum, and fingers crossed for some new audio this year.

Hi chaps. I am searching for a tune played by Graham Gold. Most definitely German, with a spoken vocal and BBE type riff. I have messaged Graham, and he doesn't know. Also I've posted it on a few forums, and googled the lyrics and found nothing. Tune starts at 4 mins, and cuts out at 4.51 Any ideas? Cheers

Great opening to a set. Plus hearing the roar of the crowd as he mixes in the opening beats of Sandstorm. Wish i was there. Must have been epic. I have the dj mag issue that features this event. Some great pictures, and the weather looked scorching

Good insightful post. I bought that Ministry issue at the time and I quite enjoyed Horror Cabaret. Quite random how it appeared on that cd though. The more developed version is even better. Even if they felt it wasn't up to standard, they could have just thrown it onto a B side on Closet. I have just started to plug the gaps of my Closet collection. Picked up 5 releases from one seller on discogs. It came to £12 which included postage. Bargain. I wished 'Tantrum' was released though. It was a strong tune, definitely deserved to be put on vinyl. It's better than the later Hi-Gate efforts. It's probably my favourite Hi-Gate track anyway. Alongside the Celine Diablo Mix of 'Pitchin' and 'Caned & Unable'

100%....Jules was untouchable towards the end of 99', which leads on to Clubbers guide to 2000. Disc 2 is still one of my all time favourites. A proper nostalgia trip.

I am quite surprised their are no tracklistings of any Dave Pearce show on the net. Also no real audio of any description. I remember tuning in most Sunday nights. His 30 minute hot mixes were pretty good from memory, and he played some great tunes. (The odd cheesy one thrown in) but nothing wrong with that. He does get some stick. But i don't think that's fair! I still have a couple cassette's, but they're from his R1 Summer Parties. As for your tune, I've been racking my brains, but none come to mind. If you have the time, perhaps you could listen to some Jules sets from around that period, that could possibly throw up something. Their is a forum called tuneid.com, you could also try posting on there. Good luck!

Just keeping this thread alive. Burien, did you manage to get a reply from John Barlow in the end? That SA31 remake is very good to be fair. I'm hopefully going to get it pressed to a dubplate so i can play it in some vinyl sets.

This is great news, and great work burien and andy. I have found a track of his on youtube called. A.M.P 'The Future Is Ours' Just after the 4 and half minute mark when those synths take hold, you can definitely hear similarities with the mystery tune. Wonder why 'Future Is Ours' got released and the Lush tune didn't?

Hope this post is allowed mods. If not then i apologise. Does anybody know the name, or recognise this track PvD played. Track 6 on his mix from radio BU Israel 31/12/2000. It sounds very familiar. Not played again, or by anybody else as far as I'm aware. It sounds like a PvD remix or production, which was Unreleased. Real nice track whatever it is. Have a listen guys and see what you think.

@FuzzY-LogiC Tim was reviewing trance in dj magazine at that time (still does) So i thought he may have heard it before. Or at least provide clues. This track fits perfectly in the style of his label, and he really liked it. He knew what Andy Perring, Steve Helstrip & Lange were creating at that time. So i think we can safely discount those three artists. Because the tune is quality, surely he would have played it again in a set further down the line. But this is the last we hear of it, and he is the only one known to have played it. Rumours PvD played it. But it would have flagged up on one of his many tracklists/sets. He would have been top of every mailing list though. Jules has got to be involved in it. Probably didn't play it again due to injunction. (Bah, everytime i re-listen to it again - it gets stuck in my head for ages!)

I managed to talk to the trance editor of dj magazine, and former boss of Atcr records regarding this tune. He said. "I wish you hadn't played me that, i don't know what it is, but i want it. Thats a great track whatever it is. I don't think its by Pulser, but he was famous for not finishing tracks. What a tune, that's going to be in my head all night. Would seem odd for him to finish a set with a tune like that in 2000, and not know who was behind it. Which makes me think he does. But that vibe of track, there are only 5-10 candidates. (I mentioned the producers who have been emailed). He stuck alot to the Uk trance sound. So lots of respective artists, he didn't play, he is very money orientated, not straying from his buds tunes. ie Agnelli & Nelson, Matt Darey etc. It could be something Jules had ready to go to Serious or Manifesto, but they flat out refused to clear the Ry Cooder sample. Cooder isnt niche in the mainstream, but in dance music, he is as niche as it gets. So if Jules was talking about him in a mag, then thats good detective work by somebody. Then he larger rather than smaller behind it. With Jules being a legal man, it could have been injuncted, and he didnt think it was worth the bother. He had just gone Top 10 with Pitchin' so had moved on from making trance by then, and Hi-Gate was his main focus. However, you Don't debut a track like that in a position like that, and not be looking to make a wave. Its a top tune 5 out of 5. The sample, is genious. But the supporting production is really strong, i can hear some of 'Plastic Dreams' in the break, and the acid is really subtle. Which could be some important clues. No way it's Pulser though 100%. Because Steve, Andy, Lange and i knew what was on eachothers hard drives, as we were on the phone everyday, playing and listening to demos. So no way he would have secretly pipelined a demo to jules. He only met Jules after 2003, after doing My Religion. Nothing makes complete sense about it. But there could be some ego mixed in there to. Im sure sitting on top of a secret tune like that, can't be, lets say an uncomfortable feeling!

Stumbled on this thread yesterday. I remembered seeing the thread on tranceaddict all those years ago, and had totally forgot about it. On first listen again, it didn't really 'grab' me. But after a few plays, I love it. Because of the contrast between the guitar and keyboard. First instinct was Rocco & Heist. But they have been contacted. It could be something by Pulser. The synths give me that feeling, plus the snares and arpeggio. If it isn't by him. It could have something to do with the atcr (a trance communication release) record label, or sublabels. Defunct now, but they always churned out quality, and this tune fits their 'sound'. Mabye you could contact Tim Stark who ran the label. I think he still reviews trance for dj magazine. Might be another dead end, but you never know! As somebody said on the previous page. Paul van Dyk played it. I can totally get that, especially with the presence of that keyboard riff. Because that really fitted his playing style, especially back then. The bassline is kinda smokey. It really reminded me of Andy Lings 'Fixation' Anyway. Jules obviously thought it was a special tune because he played it last, and on Radio one. Perhaps the plug got pulled on it, after this airing. Mabye he had something to do with it because of the Ry Cooder reference. If it was scrapped due to copyright. The tune would still smash it without the guitar. Or it could just be a one off acetate, with no info, which is long gone by now. Frustrating, because the track is a little gem.

Thoroughly enjoyed this set from Jules. First time i've heard it actually, and downloaded it as soon as i seen the tracklist. His mixing and timing are bang on throughout. Makes this flow perfectly and keeping the energy high. But what makes this mix great, is the programming. Techy and hard in the middle as well. Must have been great to listen to this at the time. Always great to hear 'Out Of The Blue' as well. 'Day Mission' not heard that one before. Tunage

Amazing set. Ferry on Fire..... A special mention goes to Ferry's opening gambit on this mix. Impact 'Inspiration' [In Trance We Trust] Only discovered this last year. What a TUNE!

I can remember this as if it was yesterday. Two heavy hitters of the Trance scene, both at the top of their game. Covering for Jules. Ferry's mix is just amazing from start to finish. Plenty of flow and energy to it. Lost Horizon, is so Dutch Trance, you would think it was his own production. A bit of Prog trance, techy trance and uplifting stuff to boot. Much like his 2 hour mix on Jules show in March 2000. van Dyk's mix is also good. He's always been my favourite dj, but his mix falls short of Ferry's here. I think his timing is off. But the tunes are absolute class. Still have this on cassette somewhere. Good memorys, good times . The Gate IV 'Give All You Got' (Gate Mix) [Go For It!]

I remember listening to a recording of this round a mates house. He recorded the show on cassette. It was Jules sitting in for Dave Pearce on Dance Anthems. My mate didn't record the whole show, just tunes he liked the sound of. I can remember him playing Ayla, then this tune you are on about. I can remember Jules saying during the outro, i quote "Radio one dance anthems with me Judge Jules, chirpy and quirky" A very catchy number. I have always wanted to ID it. I would say, tail end of 1998.
