This proves that Jules's votes are rigged......

Well, its been mentioned a few times about voting results being rigged when Jules pre-records a show, and this proves it.

Jules is in America this weekend, so his show has been recorded in advance, and bearing in mind that his show doesn't start until 7pm, its now only 4pm and the tracklisting for tonights show is already online - and the "Budge The Judge" result is also online!

So, the questions are, can we trust that ANY of the vote results are genuine any week, and how legal is this? I'm not about to sue Radio 1 over the price of a text, but they're asking people to text in to give a result of something which has already been decided - false advertising. Its no big deal, but in the days we are of everyone suing everyone for anything, Radio 1 could have major issues if someone wanted to be a real arse about this....

Putting the tracklisting up so early is also a bad move, because, by the looks of that tracklisting, I probably won't tune in tonight now because there's not much there that Jules hasn't played in previous weeks - including "The Space We Are (JOC Remix)", which is far too old now!

because of that, they've just lost a listener tonight - but the thing is, how many other people have already seen that tracklisting and also decided not to tune in? Quite damaging for listener statistics I should think - which also makes a mockery of their policy of making Jules show blend with Trevor Nelson's and Westwoods to help keep listeners tuned in.

Yet again, another daft cock up by Radio 1. They must employ more clowns to work there than Billy Smart's Circus!

Must admit it doesn't look good. When Jules pre-recorded his show last month l just assumed he had done two recordings for this feature and that the text vote was genuine. It can easily be done legally as all thats needed is someone in the studio to count up the text votes that have come in and then play the winning recording and tune (hope l'm making sense). What Jules shouldn't do is read out fictitious names. I would like you to know that Jules read out my name when l voted for "Loveshy" so they are geniune names when he is in the studio.

On the subject of the tracklisting, it will be interesting to see if they have got it right this week as it has been wrong on previous occassions. I say this because on Sat 28th October Jules was in the States and the "Back To The Old School" tune was listed as Fragma "Toca Me" which was wrong as System F "Out of The Blue" was the winning tune. The following week both tracks were listed, Moby "Go" and Humate "Love Stimulation" and the latter was the winner.

Last month Radio 1 posted T/L for Pete Tongs Fri Show a whole day early (on Thurs) which really confused me. Someone at R1 needs their arse kicking.

Well Jules does a few recorded shows per year, which is fair enough, because like the rest of us, he's entitled to have a day off to do other things - like DJ'ing in overseas countries. Bringing in a "sub" DJ isn't really necessary if Jules can do it himself by pre-recording it. Jules would be quite hard to replace in all honesty. He's quite unothodox as a Radio presenter in that he's quite witty, light-hearted and "one of the crowd". If it was Tim Westwood, then that would be different because you could just draft in Ali G to cover and nobody would know any different.

I also don't mind the show being pre-recorded - apart from the dodgy votes, etc, nobody would know any different. The only thing that bothers me is being mislead. If I'm texting in to enter a competition, i'd like to think I have a chance of winning. I wouldn't like to think the winner was decided a few days before it was even announced on the radio. I'd also like to think the features on the show are genuine, and not concluded by made-up statistics.

Its not the first time Radio 1 have done stunts like this. Remember back in the day when Dave Pearce's weekday show had the 30 minute mix and we were "invited" to phone or text in if we wanted a tune in the mix? It was a complete waste of time because a) Dave Pearce didn't do the mix himself, and B) It was pre-recorded. The only way you were going to get your tune and a shout-out was if you just happened to flukily ask for a tune that had already been put into the mix when it was recorded.

I do think the pre-recorded emails that Jules reads out are genuine though. Even though Jules is only on Saturdays, he probably recieves emails to his Radio 1 email address every day, so if he pre-records his show on a Tuesday, he probably reads out the emails he recieves on the Monday and Tuesday.

I'm afraid i've lost trust in Radio 1 though, and I won't be taking part in any features and competitions in the future because the winner has probably been decided before its even been announced on the radio.

It could possibly be that all the votes you're registering could be used the next week though?

That would still make the feature useless though because I could text "Budge" this week if I like the listeners choice, but next week I could like Jules's choice more, so if my vote of "budge" was used next week, my vote would go to the track I want to lose....

Seems a bit of a joke to be honest that they would run the feature when they know which tune will win, on pre-record weeks they should just drop the feature, people would rather have that than waste a text message when the winning tune has been decided

Just drop the features completely I say. Keep it simple - one hour of House/Electro, the other Trance and all things banging. I don't want to hear the Cut Up Girls, loads of randoms phoning in, a tune selected by a famous DJ, and a tune that we heard supported earlier on the year.

Bring back the good old days when the outdoor events were two hour MIX broadcasts, no pointless features and no randoms telling us how they got there and who with, etc. I'm not really bothered if Kate in Clacton went all the way to Creamfields on a skateboard, or if Fred in Colchester went to Turnmills in his Ford Capri.

Make it a specialist show again, and not a dance anthems-esque phone in show. Keep that for Dave Pearce.

It could still be done on pre-record weeks. I mentioned this in an earlier post that it just needs someone in the R1 studio to count up the text votes and then play the winning track along with one of the pre-recorded "alternatives endings" minus the fictitious names.

Ahh that's very true, they could have had both options recorded. All it would take is someone to look at the votes and press the correct button.

Do they read out fictious names? I was under the impression that they used texts etc from the previous week which hadn't been read out or something?

To be honest l don't know. I'm only referring to the text votes for "Budge the Judge". I agree with Briggsy as l wouldn't be very happy if my name was read out for a tune l hadn't voted for so l would complain and l'm sure others would as well. That's why l was under the impression they used "fictitious names" when "Budge the Judge" is pre-recorded.
