Just realised the title in this thread is slightly wrong. The Metro Radio Arena was the Telewest Arena until 2004.

That's my fault! Apologies for this. Will amend accordingly...

Can I also make a point in that it makes me genuinely happy to see people remembering or recapturing special 'moments' in the threads we have for old sets here. Exactly what this archive is all about :)

Been listening to this yesterday and today...there really is no comparison between today's music and the golden era of trance. Thanks Tony for uploading it :)

I don't think it can be compared no, but that's not to say todays tunes aren't just as brilliant!

This particular mix does indeed include some of the defining Trance tunes that took Jules to the top,

it also contains some of the best trance artists who are still going today.

However things change, they don't necessarily get worse or better when they change, they have just changed!

I am probably biased too as I was in my absolute clubbing element during this time, (which I'm glad about)

I bet people still have just as good a time out these days though, or surely it wouldn't be still going.

I could actually dance to this mix forever. B) parts of it are like having an orgasm imo!!

this mix is incredible, the main reason i got into the dance scene, i recorded it on tape, played it that many times wore it out and broke it!, if i was at a party my special tape would always be by my side! talk about the heartbreak when the tape snapped, but tried my best to tape it together, eventually due to the wonders of the internet was able once again to enjoy my favourite mix, favourite moments have to be aptness, babe instinct, Boccaccio life, signum and travels bulgarian, like alot of you guys i was in my element late 90s early2000s, got into many a debate about what dj was best but in my eyes it was always jules!!!

Awesome set - many of the tunes went on to feature on 'Clubber's Guide to '99' - still one of the very best Jules' compilations.

Couple of very anal corrections:

21. DJ Tiësto - 'Clear View Cry For Love' [black Hole]

should be 21. Clear View 'Cry For Love' (DJ Philip Remix) [black Hole]

23. Good Shot - 'Hands Burn' (Fontaine & Vern Remix) [spot On]

Should be Hands Burn 'Good Shot' (Fontaine & Vern Remix) [spot On]

I went to the Fabulous Godskitchen Night at the Metro Radio Area (Telewest) in November 2005 and had an absolutely amazing night there (Jules played better than Armin IMO). I don't half wish I'd have gone up for this night, this is a great Jules set.

Hands Burn 'Good Shot' (Fontaine & Vern Remix)

Seroiusly what a tune, I love this set alone just for this tune!

All about the Original mix for me, love how the bassline just whacks in with the vocal sample.

Got it on vinyl for something obscene like £2 a few years ago

This is the set that inspired me to become a DJ. I had only 45 minutes on tape recorded on a mates stereo at halls in Uni.

I had no tracklisting but a week later a DJ in the union played one of the tracks (Boccaccio Life) and I asked about it, he showed me the Neo Recrodings sleeve and said that you could only get it on vinyl. I went to 3 HMVs until I found and bought it. I had no record player, but the track was too important not to own. The rest is history.

I can't believe I can listen to this again - and hear the rest of the set I missed out on when the tape ran out! I am so grateful!
