2000/2001 Jules Anthems Set

Recommended Posts

Well after posting this tracklist in the tracklist thread, Fuzzy asked me if I had recorded it and I had so here it is if anyone else fancies a listen also. I didn't originally plan it or plan it to be something I'd upload - it was just a randon session of tunes from around the end of 2000/begginning of 2001... I hope you enjoy it.

I'll give this a listen mate, looks cool.

I've been listening to loads of my older tunes recently from the 1999-2004 era which bring back some great memories (I've been calling it a "musical midlife crisis" )

Look forward to checking this out. Cheers! :)

Certainly full of great tunes there and reminds me a lot of Jules' first Clubbed CD :)

Edit: Sorry Tremor mate, editting post because I misread the original thinking it was an actual Jules set upload and didn't want it to come across badly!

Very true Aza... I must admit this is a blatant rip off of a Jules set from that era, just slightly customized to the particular favourites of mine.. but as I said I hadn't really planned this as something I'd upload, just fancied mixing the tunes for myself. It was a very good period for tunes though so Im sure you'll enjoy listening even though there's nothing new here so to speak.

Of course mate, this is a great set of tunes regardless. On second readings of that, I didn't realise it would come across that way... I thought this was of mix of his you had found and just uploaded, that's how solid the tracklist looks so thumbs up all round ;)

I've made many mixes where they've just been totally inspirsed by Jules himself, why are we all here?

Indeedy... thats cool Aza, dont worry I didn't take any offence to the comment. In fact I looked to that CD for inspiration at one point for tunes around that period... as I often forget when the classics were first released...

This is basically a mix of all my favourite tracks Jules was playing around a very specific time... most of these tunes appear in the live shows at the end of 2000 and the university tours.

Yeah same here mate - a lot of the tunes there are what really got me into Jules and I can distinctly remember hearing some of these and then started following the main man!

I'll be downloading this to check out and provide some feedback on the mixing and tunes too ;)

Cheers again mate!

I listened to this last night. Good tunes in the mix. The only thing I'd suggest is to be a bit more conservative with the pitch control; many of the tunes felt too rushed.

Cool, cheers for listening,

Fair comment. I did state that the mix wasn't originally done to upload though so you'll have to excuse some of the mixing etc. I happened to record the mix and when I posted the tracklisting elsewhere I was asked if I'd recorded it so at that point decided to upload it anyway even though it wasn't a perfect mix.

It's meant to be a deliberate Jules style set and was really for listening to some of my favourite tunes in the car.. Jules used to majorly pitch up tunes - was quite funny really. Some of the tunes at the start of the set are certainly very pitched up to fit the set but thats how I first heard them played by Jules so to me they dont sound so silly at that speed.

Glad you listened though mate, thanks for taking the time and cheers for the feedback :)

How on earth did I miss this mix? I've never seen it before, until now. That tracklist looks orgasmic!!

There are so many gems in that mix, particularly:-

Mauro Picotto - Baguette

Drax & Scott Mac - Sublime

Thanks Nath :)
