So Jules at 44.....

Yeah I saw the same top 10 Dj's on Facebook or some other forum. Bit of a disaster for Jules indeed. Jesus Gareth Emery is on some roll this weather and I believe he has a forthcoming mix album on the way.

I have never heard ATB dj but he must be quite good to be number 11.

Markus Schulz and Gareth Emery are my top Dj's from last year. Not a thing wrong with being placed at 44. I cant understand how Tiesto is consistently in the top 2. His Dj sets of recent have been absolutely terrible. Check the website below as an indication of just how terrible they are.

the chart is a bit meaningless tbh

jules i wouldnt bother with being no.44

not considering you have decent djs like marco v, eddie halliwell, simon patteron the thrillseekers, daniel kandi, pete tong and roger sanchez is low positions too.

meaningless chart

No way! I think Tiesto's new sound/style is a lot better. I've not seen him live this year, but from hearing broadcasts mixes etc i think he could be really good live.

I agree to a certain extent brother, but he seems to incorporate about 90% of his own tracks to his Dj sets, he is playing some good tunes surely, one example is a storming tune from Roboot..

I'm not sure above and beyond deserve 4th place and from the looks of that chart trance isn't dying, where are all the drum n bass DJ's?

Chase and status and stuff, it's not a very realistic chart tbh, or not really a true sign of the times, unless it's just that there are SO many DJ's now, or is this chart meant to just be trance DJ's?

As predicted, a disastrous year for Jules - and its not hard to see why.

Its good to see Patterson moving up a lot - he's been superb over the last 2 years and it is fully deserved. His closing sets in clubs are always spot on when he boshes it out :D

I'm surprised to see Eddie so low - although he's played a lot less gigs over the last year or so though, and not been in the UK as much - plus he's vanished from Radio 1 so that has all probably had an impact.

It still amazes me to see Tiesto and Oakie as high as they are. They're both over-paid has-beens that have been poor for a while.

Above and Beyond haven't changed though - I think they've been the same for the past three years (position-wise, and also their sets...)

Is this confirmed then? I know we all have our views on how correct this list is, but if this is true, I think Jules will take this badly. He seemed to be doing a lot of canvassing for votes at the time. I think it means a lot to some djs.

Found this other poll today, no where near as relevent or credible, but still not pretty for Jules nontheless;

Jules will say the same as he's said for the past few years when he's dropped votes - "Thank you for your votes, I came in at a respectable position".

It's blatantly people voting for people based on production rather than DJ'ing. It needs to be renamed to the top 100 DJ's and producers poll - and i'm not saying that sarcastically - it really does need changing because it doesn't represent DJ popularity at the moment.

Cosmic Gate have had a strong year producing - which is reflected in them moving up 43 places. Roger Shah has also had a good year - and he's up 37 places.

The thing that surprises me the most is that DJ's don't change their fee based on their 'status'. Oakie, who's sat at number 23, allegedly charges £10,000 a set - whilst John O'Callaghan, who is one place lower, allegedly plays for £1000 - a whopping 90% less!!

Jules, who to be fair, changes his fee dependant on the size of the venue/brand, etc, earns a hell of a lot more that Lange (who, 18 months ago, was charging a bargain £750) - yet Lange is 13 places higher.

So, when DJ's go downhill, should their fee's reduce to reflect this? I think so - it might keep them on top of their game for longer.

I also wonder how Jules, who has enjoyed the privelage of being an A-list headliner and first name down on a flyer for the past 15+ years, feels about suddenly becoming "just another name on a flyer" - where B/C list DJ's such as Simon Patterson, Gareth Emery, Bobina, Roger Shah, Lange and Aly & Fila are now going to be above him? I know people say "its only a popularity poll" - but when it comes to bookings, promotors seem to take this poll seriously.

So, is it the end of an era - Jules's days of being an A-lister over? Unfortunately, I think so. Every year, for the past 5 or 6 years, he's dropped places, and this is a big fall for him now (and I think it highlights that our comments that a lot of us have raised this year about random set flow and too many bootlegs were right, despite Jules's usual response of "It gets a good reaction and the crowd seemed up for it"). If he's survives the next Radio 1 shuffle round, I reckon Jules will be between 50-60 next year - but if he gets the chop from Radio 1, he'll be out of the top 100.

I predict that Jules will have got the bullett from Radio 1 within 6 Months....you wait and see!

I sincerely hope you're wrong as l'm not ashamed to admit that l still look forward to listening to his show on a Friday night. If he did go who would they put in his place and what type of music would they play?

Annie Mac seems to be the 'golden girl' at Radio 1, so no doubt she'd get "promoted" to Jules's slot, and then they'd bring in some crap Electro DJ to fill the gap that has been created.

Eddie would have been the natural replacement 2 years ago, but his style has changed so much since then, plus he had a massive fall out with Radio 1, so that'll never happen now.

The sad thing is, the UK doesn't have any DJ's that play "across the board" like Jules and Eddie did now - so that'll leave a huge hole in the Radio 1 dance schedule.

Although I don't think Jules is no longer a DJ suited to "breaking new music" like he used to (simply because bootlegs aren't new music, and with his ranking being so low now, he no longer gets exclusives and new tunes way before other DJ's), I think he'd be great in a "specialist" role such as introducing us to new talent or, dare I say it, presenting a dance anthems show. He did a great job when he used to fill in for Dave Pearce - and I think Radio 1 have missed that show since they got rid of Dave Pearce.

i guess its all about listening figures, i guess there happy for him to stay at the moment as theres nobody else at the station with a trancy genre, and they know that this is a fairly popular genre.

Unless there going to bring someone in like above & beyond, or armin which they wont as radio1 wont allow above & beyond to syndicate there shows i reckon to other stations and armin is too busy and too international, theres nobody to replace him and theres not many decent big name trance djs around either that would be suitable and have a decent radio background.

they would have to replace jules with someone willing to do 50/50 live and pre-recorded shows. that was the issue eddie halliwell had, they at first allowed him to pre-record, or do shows from bbc manchester, then put a stop to it saying he had to do them from london etc, and he had a falling out with them and left, they didnt really get rid of him.
