When I read that folk remember certain mixes of ten years ago I think WOW! -wish my memory was that good too. But in this case I actually do remember! 'cos at the time I was working in a certain department in the evenings and bludgeoned the girls to listening to Pete Tong then Jules on a Friday evening instead of the same old same shite play list on Trent.....(got one convert out of them lol), Anyhow with this Bedroom Bedlam section the guy was Marcus from Notts; I remember thinking if it was the same budding DJ who owned/worked in a little dance record shop up Hurts Yard a few years earlier.........just a random memory!

Yep....in a word. 'Ordinary' folk were invited to put a mix together and send in by cassette...(how times have changed!), which Jules and his crones would sort a little bit out and put out for the listeners. I'd forgot until listening to this, then those wonderful times came flooding back! ( laughs at 'work'). Before that (on this) they had a feature called 'the Jules Alternative' which ' deviated from their usual House'. :)

I remember the "Jules' Alternative" feature, which was binned in about 1998 I think.

But I loved it because he would play Drum n Bass and other random tunes that weren't House or Trance. And I liked that.

It sometimes seems to be listed as a track on that album but the released version of the album listed on discogs.com does not have that track.

The audio of the show does not contain the track in question. Does anyone have audio which includes this track?

@Tracker: good question...

It's not listed on Discogs, but it IS listed here: http://dnb-line.ru/ as released on 'SONY RECORDS (Japan) / LABELLO BLANCO', just like this album:

Knighted Medieval Warrior: You are right I also loved Julesy´s so called "alternative" sections with drum´n´ bass, downtempo etc. in his shows. He had featured similar stuff back on Kiss 100 FM during his "Anything Goes Sessions. It is obvious that Jules brought this concept also to his BBC Radio One slot(s) as his alternative sections is featured in above mentioned show from early November. However it disappeared shortly after he had arrived to BBC Radio One. I was not aware if it was due to shorter slots on Radio One (2 hrs on Friday and the same length on Saturday) than he had broadcast on KISS 100 FM or there had been a different reason.

Such alternative sections were, I believe, much appreciated by the radio listeners.

Nevertheless, Jugde´s selection of tunes from mid and late 1990s is still, after years, absolutelly stunning!

JJA fellas,

no matter this is only an excerpt, a quality selection of tunes. Such melodies are just why I was listening Jules back in the day.
When Sting with The Police comes in I am having goosebumps. Top choon! And awesome Diamonds Are Forever it is Mr. Bond´s tuxedo styler!

In my humble opinion, Marcus from Nottingham might have been Marcus James, once Renaissance Resident DJ who entered the super club scene after he had been discovered in Bedroom Bedlam competition.
Correct me, if I am wrong! Nonetheless, brilliant Renaissance tunes that Jules picked up for edited version from his Bedroom Bedlam mix.

Anyway, it took some time but there are my foundings and the TL corrections. All tracks and mixes IDed except n. 19. It could be Dirty Trance by DJ Maddog, released, however, in some 2000s.

19. Unknown - 'Vine Of Soul' [White Label] (Dirty Trance by DJ Maddog)
20. Sting & The Police - 'Walking On The Moon' (Roger Sanchez EVA Mix) [AM:PM]
21. Blue Train - 'Get Movin' (JohNick Trumpet Mix) [MAW Records]
22. David Arnold - 'Diamonds Are Forever' (Trailermen Club Vocal) [East West]

Bedroom Bedlam - Marcus (James) from Nothingham

23. Freefall - 'Shrug' [stress Records]
24. Human Movement - 'Traveller's Theme' [Whoop! Records]

Jules continues

25. Hypertrophy - 'Beautiful Day' (Tank Remix) [DOS Or Die]

Both nice choices from Marcus! Would have been interesting to hear the rest of that mix.

Spin Doc,

you are right! Nice and proggy "Renaissance" tunes. I wish I knew if Marcus is really that Marcus James later known for his residency in Renaissance Club.

Moreover, I would be very interested in other Bedroom Bedlam winning as well as other mixes that DJs sent to BBC studios.
