Right, i've had enough of Audacity and its "Sorry, Audacity has stopped working" messages (thus resulting in my losing my mix. I want to use different software now. It's just way too temperamental for me to use. What recording software does everyone on here use? Can anyone recommend me some? I'm only going to be recording my mixes with it, so it doesnt really matter how basic it is.

adobe audition/cool edit. They are basically the same but adobe took over cool edit some years ago and branded as their own program audition.

It's prob a tad expensive to buy but it's not hard to find a fee copy on the net. I've been using it for years and never had any issues. The great thing is it's also a very good editing program if you're into making custom edits of tunes. Its very easy to use. It's also easy to set track markers in the main waveform of your mix and then burn a CD within the software with track marks and no gaps between the tracks on the CD.

SOUNDFORGE!

Love it, so easy to use, after you record you can easily go through it and fade areas recorded too loud for equal levels throughout the mix, you can seperate tracks if you wish although that takes some time. The screen when recording is a simple box which tells you when you are clipping, just reduce the sound and press refresh. I have had no problems with it although when putting a mix to mp3 format I do open in audacity and convert it through that program

I have soundforge 7, there are newer versions

I use Adobe Audition bloody brilliant bit of software, I'm on Windows 7 so I need to use AA instead of Cool Edit Pro.

Depends what OS (Operating System) your on mate, if you still have WIndows XP i'd suggest using Cool Edit Pro.

Soundforge is also a good program to use.

I think some of the older versions of Cool Edit was freeware... Cool Edit '96' and '2000', but I'm not sure... I know Cool Edit 2000 was widely used by proffessionals and individuals uptil recently and it's very easy on your PC on terms of performance requirements :)

cool edit was owned by syntrilliam software, that was then bought out by adobe, and became adobe audition....was ace software
