Hi guys as i've sold my Pioneer CDJ setup i want some help on choosing a new setup.

Do i buy the new Pioneer DDJ-S1 http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/44/1992/34209/DDJ-S1/index.html

Or are there other options are Available?

What would i need to dj with ableton obviously a copy of Ableton and a laptop? But would i need some kind of controller turntables or cd decks

or do i use Traktor or Serato im confused

I'm getting into production and am using Ableton as my DAW. I think the djing is all done in the session view, there is a crossfader in there and i think most people use a Novation controller to trigger samples. Its not djing as in the conventional way.

Personally, i stick with a Vestax VCi 100 Mk2 controller and Traktor 2. Its easy, solid and works.

i sometimes use ableton for dj'ing and there 2 ways u can do it

1.get a good soundcard and a midi controller i use a novation nocturn and hook it up to your mixer and use the midi controller to for effects but if u had a good djm mixer u wouldnt really need a midi controller for effects

http://www.novationmusic.com/products/midi_controller/nocturn

2.the other option for ableton is to get the akai apc 40 which is designed for ableton it automaps to all parameters so u dont need to map it to effects or to trigger of audio clips

http://www.akaipro.com/apc40

i wouldnt no much on ther other stuff like traktor or serato

hope this helps

I had ableton, too confusing for me, had virtual DJ and it's so easy, but all so soul less so I rarely gave it a go. My friend had those pretend vinyls but later bought a USB controller which actually is a bit more fun and like traditional DJing and enjoyable IMO. Used it in a club a couple of times, felt more like DJing than just using a laptop alone. :) But I don't think you NEED one as such.
