Good to hear from you, Spin Doctor. Think a lot of us (oneself included) become victim of life changes, think there's still a handful of veterans that venture back here now & again, still true for the cause. Great account of your recent ventures; I recall Craig Connelly joining up here to share his work way back back & Jules would spin that stuff on his show. A prequel mix to the 'Vintage Delights' retrospective project adventure, this mix - & its tracks - very much forms a fundamental part of my musical DJ voyage, which I think, those that'd frequent this forum may enjoy. For our historic hero, one whom quintessentially brought us to this 'place', without a shadow of doubt, Judge Jules, played a significant part of our musical adventures & quests. I for one, personally, would have not been inspired to not just follow his works & endeavors, but develop such an itch, I passionately wanted to learn & become a DJ. Nice mix, there, Tom - and some great choonage selection. Memories from back in the day, gone but not forgotten. 'Frizzbomb 'is a belter... That Randy Katana track, quite an anthem, but doesn't it have similarities with '4 Strings - Take Me Away', that triggered "sounds like" thoughts, and was a good surprise to hear the latter track then featured toward the end of the mix. Wondered if you have the same vibes, which may be what triggered that, too? :)

Great set and mix, Tom. Enjoyed it - and loving the 'reworks' of tracks we'd all be blessed by the Judge playing the originals. Liking these reworks myself, best thing closest to me being stuck in the past with the 'good old days'. Where'd you pick some of them up from (as they're white labels)?

Cheers, Jason, respect your opinion. I'm generally a nostalgic, and always been particularly fond of the late 90's - early 00's. When I get opportunity to spin, I still find myself going back there. The thinking behind the mix here, though, was to go back to those days and either pay a tribute back to the track (a lot of them I'd have already featured in mixes so didn't want to continuously recycle), but also show some support to the artists who've had a go at remixing some of the 'classics'. Some should be left alone, tend to agree, but I wanted to put together something fresh - whilst paying homage to the tracks. Fergies take on "The Dawn", may not hit the vibes of the OG, but I actually heard him talking about the track when Jules had him on a session, and the sentiment for the track was touching. Lane 8's take on Zo's Superman was another I eagerly wanted, and twas eventually given away for free... Other compelling tunes were Cosmic Gate's remix of Picotto and Maceo Plex's take on 'Insomnia'. Also loved the harder trance scene stuff, and still like to put out recordings of those days gone by, this one being one of my fondest. Would welcome your thoughts and insights on that, too? Cheers

Thanks for sharing this, enjoyed checking that out. Always had a great character has Jules. Top personality, and dearly has a place in my musical heart for getting me in to DJ'ing & the music scene. Touching stuff where he talks about the power of music during lockdown and truly reflecting on his late mother.
