  3. Hey folk, Since it's a nice day, and I've almost finished my new bedroom (and cut the grass), I thought I'd stick up a limited 7 day download for my sought after K.o.L rework! The track has been supported Tiesto, Mike Koglin, Andy Moor, Mark Sherry & Jules himself on his Radio 1 show. Something nice for the summer. This won't see the light of day unfortunately so here it is for the kind folk who have been asking about it! Enjoy! Clicky wick

  9. a good friend of discogs after 21 years rote this to me Then I can resolve one of your ID tracks for you. Judge Jules, lUSh 2000. This is an unreleased track by Julian Napolitano under his A.M.P. alias that only Judge Jules got to test. Unfortunately it was never published. Had written with Julian Napolitano a few times. By the way, there is a new remake of it, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzDwNwUzTsU&t=1s. Sounds pretty good too. Thank you for your time and best regards and this Talked to him on Facebook on Messenger. Another member of the ID track group had already written briefly with him and asked. Then he had confirmed that the track was from him, but nothing further. I then wrote to him again because I had already written with him about another track many years ago. At the beginning he confirmed to me that the track was from him, but he can't remember which alias. After various "re-drilling", he decided that there would be a track under his A.M.P. alias be. He can't remember how the track was sent to Jules, but he suspects it was about John Barlow (“At the time we were managed by John Barlow from 3 beat so he might of sent it to Jules or a promo cd company). That was his answer. Unfortunately, in the last few weeks I haven't had time to research any further and ask about John Barlow. But it could be the key. That is everything I know.

  17. Haven't been on here for ages or done any JJ Retro mixes … threw this together at the wkd. Lots of Jules Trance era stuff up on here, this stuff covers my period of clubbing in London and listening to Jules flagship Kiss Fm Fri – Sat slots from 91 – 97. If your looking Trance only then forget it. If you like "Pumping" music then check it out. These were the big tunes of the day in Jules' box and on his Kiss FM playlist … shame there are literally zero shows around from those days, as it was still very much pre-digital. I had dozens of tapes with his shows and others but they got thrown away by mistake during a move a few years back. I enjoyed tracking down these tunes as many never made it to the CD mixes that were around back then. Jules was on rotation for all the regular club nights and specials all the time. Peach @ Camden w Graham Gold, Frisky @ Ministry (he would do 3 hour sets in the box) Gallery @ Turnmills, Serious @ The Cross, Divine @ Bagleys and Lloyd Studios. Kiss did some good allnighters @ Shepard Bush Empire as well. All the other big names were always around, Fontaine, Tall Paul, John Kelly, Tony De Vit, El Tongo, Blocko and Alex P, Healy, and the rest. Its odd to look at London clubbing now with the 90s era as an afterthought, it was a seriously hedonistic time and there was so many nook and cranny places to hang out in all day after clubbing. Or just roll up to most pubs with decks and spin your own tunes. Pre-surveillance world … you can't take a shit now without it being analysed by some suits in a Batcave in the next room … glad I got my rocks off in that earache lol that was 21 years ago (WTF ...) I enjoy early Trance stuff but have always been more into a spread of styles, which Jules was more about in earlier times. Anything from Funky – Tribal – breakbeats - uplifting and the downright nutbag tunes he seemed to have an ear for. Its basically just “Pumping” … More on the way now I got the bug again lol ... enjoy.

  18. sorry for the delay in replying .. it was defiantely described by the Judge as a ' white label' ... & no, it was definately not Tiesto's In search of sunrise ' .. although this is a amazingly good track (!) & it did not have a vocal and it was not dark .. quite the opposite in fact !! it was a melodic uplifting insrtumental trancer .. ) .... it sounded very much like a Darren Tate track .. I would not be surprised if it was him .. but there is no record of him doing a track called 'Sunrise' .. I am intrigued by what you said about 3 fingers .. do you have a copy of this ?? I would love to hear it again .. and yes, it was definately played by the Judge after the 3 fingers mix of BT;s Flaming June .. circa 2000/1 + also, thanks for your help .. !! totally awesome .. ))) System F - Solstice - 3 Fingers -

  19. Jules's style has progressively got slower, cheesier and less focused towards Trance over the last decade - to the point where the bulk of his sets became "EDM" shite and commercial rubbish. He's been irrelevant to the Trance scene for years now unfortunately. His sound is more suited to the "three shots for a fiver" music-for-the-masses commercial / chain-owned clubs these days where 18-25 year olds are happy to hear commercial music with "Somebody screeeeeeeam" jingles slapped over the top. Gone are the days of Jules smashing out a bit of decent, pacey, "niche" tunes like Dark Monks - Insane, BK - Revolution and Mauro Picotto - Baguette at 143bpm in a main room or festival. A 133bpm Swedish House Mafia vs Bananarama vs Will.I.Am vs John McEnroe (Six Sambucas & A Strongbow "You Cannot Be Serious" Vocal Bootleg) mash-up is more apt these days*. *That bootleg may or may not be fictional before anyone tries looking for it*

  32. Recognise some, some I don't. I wish you had played Ice Rain for a bit longer before bringing the next track it, made it seem , for me, a bit pointless playing Ice Rain at all only until the first main breakdown. As for Pizzaman - The Feeling, I first heard it after buying the Cd single of Hello Honky Tonks at Woolworths when it was knocked down to 30p, and thought back then it was pointless track that went nowhere, still do, ha!. I got rid of the Cd a few years later, I wish I hadn't as I did like the Cotton Club remixes. Shoulda, woulda, coulda!

  33. I really don't understand how producers don't make music like this anymore??!! it baffles me , i'm not talking production wise just quality of melodies ect. I think alot of producers around the good old days had some actual music theory under their belt. I know benno de Goeij from Rank 1, Darren Tate. Sister Bliss, Junkie XL, Tiesto's producer at that time are all classically trained musicians.

  34. Did it have a vocal, was it uplifting or dark? Are you sure it was not a remix with sunrise in the title (Dj Tiestos in search of sunrise mix) as an example?

  38. I had many tapes of Jules Kiss FM mixes from 91 - 97... classic house mastermixes, so many... left em in a box at an old flat thinking it was junk... if it was ONE tune I could get my hands on would still sound RUDE today on a bassline tip its that LUCA: NY STYLE DUB... HUUUGE tune... Jules played it all the time early/mid 97 @ Ministry's Frisky night... never found it anywhere... I asked Jules personally when I bumped into him @ Nott Hill Carnival and just smiled said he was lucky to get test pressings... He always showed up there for Norman Jay's (Jules friend and idol back in the Family Function -Shake n Fingerpop rare groove days late 80s) Good Times Bus System. As far as Drum N Bass goes, saw Jules do a set @ Bukem's Logical Progression in 97 @ Turnmills and he rocked it. Miss those days ... glad to be clubbing in the 90s... looking back now it was SO much more diverse and you took it all for granted living in London as everything was on your doorstep! I went to many nights in all styles ... I actually started out with breakbeat jungle and hardcore in 92/93 and stalked Randall ... but the Jungle takeover in 94 was too much MCing and rewinds ... so I moved to house. Always liked Jules Kiss show so went around to most of his London gigs 94 -97 He was way more Housey then... Frisky @ Ministry was wkd. Everyone played there. Jules, John kelly, Seb Fontaine, Oakenfold, Tony De Vit, Healey, Tong...

  39. Nothing better than reading people's long searches for sets and then finding them in our archives. Enjoy! SpinDoc - the 2 hour studio mastermix (subbing in for Jules) by Ferry Corsten is here - one of my favourite mixes ever: http://www.judgejulesarchive.co.uk/archives/board/index.php?/topic/3356-2000-03-10-ferry-corsten-mix-covering-for-judge-jules-studio-session/

Ally Brown: Ally Brown is no newbie to the trance scene having grown up listening to the genre. Through this time he's listened to the sound transform and blossom into a sound that he really wanted to be part of. Ally grew up DJ-ing in his bedroom for many years and tried his hand at music production at the age of 21. After a few years of dabbling in this, Ally has now produced some electric, fast paced and melodic tracks that has now became his signature sound. Ally has tracks and remixes on labels such as Discover Dark Records, Lange Recordings, Bonzai Music, MLXL and many more with artists such as Armin Van Buuren (former number 1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll), Paul Van Dyk (Also former number 1), Aly & Fila, John O'Callaghan, Simon Patterson, John Askew, Mark Sherry and many more supporting his music across the world. His collaboration with Polish star Cristian Ketelaars saw their track "Smuggle Run" spend over a month in the top 10 sales chart on www.trackitdown.net and at Number 1 for 8 consecutive days! This success has seen the track included in "The Gallery - 18 Years" 3 CD compilation Mixed by Judge Jules, Simon Patterson, & Gavyn Mytchel. (Purchase the CD here: http://www.enhancedmusic.com/products/1087) Ally has always been a sucker for a melody, but after going through a stage listening to Techno, Drum & Bass, Hard House and Hardstyle he has picked up some influences on the way that have shaped his DJ sets into extremely energetic yet euphoric and emotional journeys through the harder edge of trance, incorporating all of the above styles within the set but maintaining the vibe that he is now known and loved for. Ally has been booked to DJ in some of the countries most prestigious club-nights such as Ministry Of Sound, Rong, Wax Format, Re:Format, Blueprint, 1Forty+ and many more. You will not be disappointed in this guys ability to rock a crowd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJoB1z4ucbY For full info on all the DJ's plus their management, please clink the link below: Sunset To Sunrise - https://www.facebook.com/Sunset2SunriseEvents Manuel Le Saux - https://www.facebook.com/ManuelLeSauxOfficialFanPage Touchstone - https://www.facebook.com/TouchstoneOfficial Ally Brown - https://www.facebook.com/allybrownmusic Cliffy Burrows - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cliffy-Burrows/29771520816 AM2.0 - https://www.facebook.com/pages/AM20/119427854772462 Phill Lee - https://www.facebook.com/Phil.Lee.Cockerill Paul Tutill - https://www.facebook.com/Tutill Synergy Artist Management - https://www.facebook.com/SynergyAM Apollo Artist Management - http://apolloartistsagency.com/ For anyone wishing to travel to the event Middlesbrough Bus Station is 5 mins walk from the venue, Middlesbrough Train Station is across the road from the venue and there is a very cheap Travelodge 5 mins walk from the venue too. 41. "...The irony is these £500 (or thereabouts) smartphones come with these tiny, crappy little pairs of headphones that are actually quite bad for your hearing, so at the very least go any and buy yourself a decent pair..." Great advice from the Judge! Looking smart these days...

  43. I managed to get a couple of M:Bargo tunes from Itunes - that was the only place I could find them though. Personally, i'd love to get my hands on stuff from the IDJ label digitally - particularly GD - Choral Reef.
