  1. A few years ago I thought I’d take the initiative to start converting my vinyl to MP3 as I sold my Technics 1210’s to fund the purchase of my CDJ’s. Having sold both my turntables I was left without a means of converting my vinyl. I purchased a ION Profile Pro, but have never really committed the time to starting the process of converting my stock of 300-400 vinyl.

Last month I bit the bullet and attempted converting a few records. To say I am disappointed in the quality is an understatement. The pop and crackle is constant across the recording and while I can remove this on Audacity, it’ll take a lifetime to edit such a large number of recordings. I suspect the problem is at the business end of the process, i.e. the USB turntable, rather than the sound card in my MacBook.

I've done some market research for new USB turntables and have found some pricier models manufactured by Numark.

Have any of you successfully converted vinyl to a high standard using a USB turntable, and if so, what model did you use? I did look at professional vinyl conversion services, before deciding against it because of the disproportionate cost. I’m not adverse to paying a few quid for a decent USB turntable, as I can sell it on and recoup some of my expenditure.

    Thanks in advance

I was going to highlight in red all the best tracks but then it only ended up being about three that weren't in red  .

Picked up the Timo Maas remix of Eye Bee Em on MP3 recently. Absolutely ridiculous! What about Seven Colurs? Wtf?

  3. Done my mix. Will PM the link to you Briggsy once it's uploaded.

    Tracklist:

    1) Musique Vs U2 - New Years Dub (Original 12" Mix)

    2) Floyd - Come 2 Gether

    3) Rod-Y-Ler - Lifesigns (Bryan Kearneys Planet Love Makeover)

Hope it slips into the mix well. The remix of 'Lifesigns' isn't anywhere near as hard as most of Bryan's stuff so don't be afraid.

  4. The only rucks we have on ere are duals involving horses and swords and, this only takes place in a virtual environment! This is a harmonious place...

And with this most forthright comment I shall dislodge you from your donkey with my lance. CHARGEEEEEEEE!!!!

  5. Ok I'll start the ball rolling. I did a quick google on this and cut-pasted them here so I can maximise the comedy factor.

"We're on the case like Samsonite!"

"Banging like the human race depended on it!"

"Like sellotape....... we're on a roll!"

Like an Extra Value Meal, we're going large!"

"Hammering it like Bob the Builder"

"The show with more rambling than a bankholiday weekend in the lake district"

"Like David Seaman's hair, we're not cutting anything short"

"Like 2 giraffes stood next to each other, it's neck and neck"

Anyway, there's a few to start the proceedings. Rather annoyingly I came upon no end of forum topics on other websies slating

Jules and saying he's cheesy etc. Take a long walk off a short period you uneducated areseholes.

  6. I've had the same kinda experience with these 'chain clubs'. We went to see JFK & Agnelli & Nelson at Elements in Northampton about a year ago. Being 'chain clubs' they dont seem to put much into their audio setups and this lead to the most awfull sound coming out of the oversized speakers. My ears were ringing for about a week after (that cant be healthy) and I'm still mentally traumatised.

The venue was only small and was full of pissed up chavs dong the "woo, woo" chant all night whilst waving their glowsticks around like they were trying to fend off a swarm of attacking wasps or something. . I'm totally open to a diverse crowd and I'm not saying no 'beer boys' because that'd mean if I had a couple of bottles when I went in I'm one of them..

Anyway, I had a wrenching headache when I left due to the crap speakers and the constant wiff of poppers being nailed by people drinking and quite obviously not on the gurners.

Needless to say I'm not going there again.

This led to much annoyance when Slinky left the Opera House and went to Elements  . I haven't been since it moved.

Just out of curiosity, I know a couple of people on here used to live in B'mouth. Whats the new venue [Elements] like?
