  1. Bootlegs I think are a different proposition in some ways. They're definately over-done at the minute too but I don't think they really irritate as much as the wave after wave of classics being remixed. Making a bootleg of two popular (contemporary) tunes is a great way of getting that instant 'wow' factor. People thinking that you're playing one tune that they have heard loads before & then bang something else comes in. Bootlegs do at least require someone to creatively fuse the two tracks together (thinking ah, wouldn't it be great to use the vocals from that on this track or whatever) whereas the remixing of classics seems to be an individual raping an earlier idea for their own means. I think what really, really irritates is that these 'new' remixes are often so similar to the original track that there's no point in them anyway. If someone uses an older tune in a completely different way then fair enough, it's given the original idea new life but also made it into something different. Doing as some producers seem to do often & just taking a classic & putting into the production template they use for a lot of productions seems a little pointless, all in my opinion of course.
  2. The Hands Burn one is a grave injustice to my ears, the original version of that tune is still so amazing & would still generate such a massive reaction that you don't need someone tainting it with a 15 minute hash of a remix. If I want to hear a DJ play 'Good Shot' then I want to hear the original version not this new one which is complete tosh in comparison. The same goes for 95% of these new remixes but the fact is that as long as people (especially people as influential as Jules) keep on supporting them then the guys making the remixes are not going to go away or try to make some actual original music. Oh how I envy the amount of outstanding original music the A-list DJs receive (& for free as well), yet they still fill their sets with novelty tunes.
  3. Wish I could help Fuzzy but I'm the same as you. I can remember it pretty vividly but I wouldn't have a clue as to where to find it in a set.

    I have

Personal trainers are a waste of time (and lots of money) unless you really want to become Arnie or you desperately need help. All of the equipment is self explanatory to use & a programme is so easy to write up anyway. Most decent gyms will do you a basic programme when you join & have the induction. I've been at my current gym for over three years & visit around 3 times a week, I used to go strictly for cardio but that got dull so the past few months it's been weightlifting & general muscle toning.

  6. I've not got through this entirely yet but was wondering what everyone else's opinions on Armin's Essential Mix from last week were?

Best of luck mate, we got off the plane to torrential rain & had about an hour of sunshine the whole weekend.

    The News

Black Pudding is amazing, delicious food & completely makes a breakfast. It's no worse than most of the other food we eat anyway. Chicken Nuggets are the worst food to eat in terms of the s*** they put in them. On a positive note the weather related news is definately something I'm enjoying. Having been in a dull & rainy Prague for 4 days coming back & sitting in the beer garden for an hour with this radiant sunshine is a godsend.
  10. I have respect for United, they play a kind of football which I enjoy watching as much as any other team out there, they play classic attacking football, employing wingers & using the ball much more effectively & quickly than some of the other premier league sides. I dislike Chelsea as they're a club built on one man's wealth, they're greedy & full of players that I passionately dislike, such as Drogba, Ballack, Obi Mikel, Malouda, etc. I hate their petty attitude & I didn't mind them losing at all in the semi. Arsenal are the team I really dislike though, Wenger is the most arrogant there is, his constant 'I did not see it' line is a joke & his policy of recruiting seemingly only foreign players & then claiming he has a 'world class youth system' is absurd. Signing young players from abroad then 'developing' them from the age of 16 amounts to robbery basically. How many of the current Arsenal side actually came through the ranks at the club? Walcott, Ramsey, Fabregas, Van Persie, Adebayor, Fabianski, Toure, Gallas, Glichy, Eboue, Song, Sagna, Denilson, Rosicky, Bendtner, Flamini, Senderos are all names supposedly 'developed' by Wenger, in reality he waited until other clubs had spent all their time nurturing their talent then poached them for a pittance of a fee. The only examples of actual Arsenal youth players that have made it would be Bentley (shipped out as soon as he could) & Gibbs, who has potential but when Clichy comes back will he actually play? Off topic I know but a good rant never hurt anyone
  11. I hope Man Utd win (purely as an English fan) but I think Barcelona will triumph 2-0
  12. Great to see Jules really supportiung David's (Murtagh) tune, also amazed to see him playlist a track from Harem, such an underrated label
  13. I hate to say it but I feel there are a few tracks there that, while they were ok at the time, have aged terribly. On the other hand some absolute belters in there aswell
  14. Any downloads I grab I always make time to comment, good or bad. Only trouble I have is with all the mp3 downloads I have to purchase for my own sets I don't have the disc space to download as many sets anymore without compromising performance
  15. Disc Two owns virtually every other compilation CD ever, every track on there is fantastic. 'Bulgarian' 'Luvstruck' & 'Violin de la Nuit' are my picks from disc one
  16. Definately see what you're saying mate & i think you've hit the nail on the head with the part of your statement about songs being catchy, Pearce's audience lust for cathy throw-away pop dance songs, they don't wana have to pay attention to a record for 10misn they just want a radio edit that they can have on in their car with some drunken scouse bird saying what a great night out she had in Oceana
  17. I think that there are very credible artists that have made cheesy tunes, Kyau vs Albert 'Walk Down' for me was a very cheesy tune, that vocal was pure cheese! I don't discriminate between pidgeonholing things as chees, commercial etc really. I think that DJ Sammy etc is just sh*t, tunes like those don't even come into my thinking when categorising dance music, that stuff is just pop
  18. I'm not personally slating Dave, obviously he won't turn down easy money or a gig where he feels there is a platform for him to play. Fair enough. I'm not a fan purely as i don't see the appeal, I'd rather see a DJ playing records that form some kind of flow & are mixed properly, in saying that I'm not one for the over-doing of 'classics', Pearce seems to play a large majority of his sets with a lot of classics in. Fair enough for people that want that, but personally I think that an older 'anthem' has so much more effect when it's thrown into a set that has some contemporary unknown records in aswell. Classics nights & DJs like Pearce that (for want of a better phrase) 'Anthem bash' do nothing for me, I'd rather hear someone spin some unknown records for an hour building things up nicely then dropping a massive track, the effect (for me at least) is so much better that way. Each to their own & i'd never slate anyone for liking anything (within reason) but it's not my cup of tea as I'm sure the music i play isn't to everyone's taste
  19. It amazes me that, even with the R1 backing, that Dangerous still plays so many gigs. I know that he appeals to, a shall we say, 'different' clubbing (if it can be called that) crowd but surely people that listen to him play must realise he is dodgy. I duno why they don't simply listen to more tasteful DJs & Shows.
  20. Ignoring Dave Pearce for a while, Briggsy mate love the avatar! 8-)
  21. The way he pitches every tune at about 5+ is ridiculous. One of the many reasons he is wrong :?
  22. Some of the stuff that man has enforced onto people's ears over the years is criminal, way too much cheese and i.m.o his mixing is generally always shocking. When i first started out i had a little motto to help me when i got down about messing up a mix it read 'If Dave Pearce can do this so can I' Basically i thought, look if that muppet can get gigs and be paid hundreds for playin cheesy trance over-pitched and poorly selected then there is no reason why i can't
