End of an era, albeit an era that I left about 5 years ago. However Jules has introduced me to some great tunes and been a key part in many a good night out.
He has always been very accessible and would help out in anyway he could, often saving me a few door fees along the way.
Music will always develop and I think Jules has had a good run at R1. He's very lucky to have an alternative career ready made and I wish him success with it.

Anyone remember what time this was broadcast?
As I've said, my memory of the day isn't good, but I think it was early evening, probably around 7-7.30? Anyone got any better memories?
EDIT - At the start of the broadcast, Scott Mills says "its almost 8 o'clock". I wasn't too far off
On the day it was hard to hear the music because of the crowd, and this recording is much the same!

Brilliant and thanks for whoever came up with the goods for the second set and reassuring me that I do have some recollection of the day. TL looks good - I'm grabbing it now.

Good effort Aza..it was a blinding mix and I play it regularly

I've just listened to Matt's mix and there's some memories coming flooding back from it! Haven't heard The Journey in a long time. Spot on mixing, but it seemed a bit distorted to me, but that could just be problems my end. Fantastic stuff

Coming to the end of another mix with some wicked tunes in it. OK, so there's a few dropped beats in it, but the transition points are on the money and the flow runs superbly Another enjoyable hour of dancing round the spare room
Haven't heard Voodoo in ages!!

N2F, giving your mix a listen atm - sounding good
-
Good effort, Aza. Nicely organised
-
Such a shame that Sandstorm is affected by the sound problems. Good set nevertheless.

Well, Jules deffo says that this broadcast is from the Serious float. I'm 95% sure I saw him on the main stage. The floats, IMO, were pretty rubbish.
EDIT: Well, after listening to it, Jules mentions broadcats from other floats, but nothing about his later set. I'm guessing he played the main stage, but R1 didn't broadcast it. A real shame
WHat was Jules' Mrs up to?!?! Possibly the worst live vocals ever The crowd were better than she was

My memory of the day isn't the best, but I'm pretty sure I saw Jules on the main stage, not the Serious float? But those tunes seem to be what I remember hearing on the stage. I'll need to listen to it.

I was there too and have always been after this set Thanks Fuzzy!

Would this maybe be the first Jules show you listened to, Tim?
-
Bit of a scoop this one then
-
No more of this recording survives
Sounds a bit like the club it was broadcast from

This is a bit like the situation a few years ago with a bootleg that was flying around in 2003/4 of U2's "With Or Without You", which had Whitney Houston vocals flung on the top - later it came out as LMC vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above, I think it was Rachel McFarlane who re-did the vocals but it never quite captured the original magic of the original bootleg.
Good shout, Tim. The 'original' with Whitney's vocals was far better than the commercial tripe that charted.

Totally agree. I have fond memories of listening to this live and repeatedly for many a week after on a now-very-worn-out tape
Just remembered that it also cost me an extra £50 or so, on a night out that was totally not planned, but there was no way of not going out after listening to it!

Thanks for the info!

I hate to do a Tim here, but what time was this broadcast? And was it truly 'live.' I was at a supposedly Live E-Mix from Leeds Town Hall and was very disappointed to walk in at 11PM to listen to R1 jingles stating it was Live - clearly not.

Thanks for the download
btw, under the Properties tab, it says Bank Holiday Hallowe'en 1999. Could this be right?

Had a crack at the t/l while i was having a quiet period at work. Hope I've done it in the format for you admins!

Ah bless  Thanks Chrissie
I've been away at T in the Park all weekend. We camped for the first time and luckily got our tent set up between showers. Some people that arrived after us got turned away because the car parks had become flooded. After we got back from the arena on Friday night, people with tents were still arriving and had to set their tents up in mud.
The campsite was a mess. All the 'paths' were well muddy, but we had wellies so coped OK.
Saw Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Calvin Harris (they had the tent bouncing), Klaxons, Razorlight and The Killers (who were amazing. Unfortunately my gf sprained her ankle on Saturday afternoon on a rough bit of ground and so we didn't get round all the bands we wanted to see and then had to leave Sunday morning, just as the mud was drying out
Nevertheless, we made had a good weekend and made the best of it. I think in future we'll stick with going up for just one day and not camp. Glad I've done the 'camping at a festival' bit, but never again

Absolutely brilliant, Aza! Loved it. It felt like a true Radio One broadcast with a certain Mr O'Riordan doing voiceovers.
