  1. haha i'm not afraid mate. Its the hard stuff where i'm most at home anyway. Its the calmer stuff that will be interesting - I tend not to mix that calm and slow these days.
  2. Above & Beyond? Who are they? haha even Donna can't drag me out to see Above & Beyond mate - I'm up for most DJs except them lol. We'll have to do it again sometime anyway mate - was good to catch up with you. Quality night
  3. Perhaps he's not into his DJ'ing so much these days? I've not seen him on my travels for a few months, he's not been on here or the Matt Hardwick board much, and i'm sure he used to be resident for Amplified in Derby - but he's not been on a line-up there for ages either.
  4. Bjorn is everywhere - i've seen him all over the place when i've been clubbing. I also spotted him at Magna last year, and also saw him wandering around Global Gathering in a group. I also spotted him on the dancefloor at Gods once when I was looking over from the balcony. I swear, if DJ mag run a "spot Bjorn on your travels" competition, i'd be minted by now. If I went on the moon, i'm sure Bjorn would be there raving it up with his group. I reckon he goes to 5 clubs a night
  5. I've also met Bjorn a couple of times too. Forgot he was a member of this board
  6. So, who have you met off this board? I've only met Tom Bailey and Attila Sumer. Unfortunately, it all went a bit t**s up on the night I met Tom - first car problems, then he was DJ'ing with me following, plus nerves kicked in too - so didn't get to speak to him for that long unfortunately. I must have come across as a right arse! Sorry mate. Things went more to plan with Attila - met him as planned at Ministry, and spent a good few hours there. The guy is a legend! So laid back and easy to chat to So thats about it for me off this board so far. It'd be nice to meet the rest of you at some point, particularly Aza, Jason B and Simone Ross - i'd imagine those three to be a good laugh
  7. Right, i'm knackered and having an early night so i've just downloaded the last mix for tonight. If i've downloaded your mix, then i'll have replied to your PMs. If i've not replied, it means i've still got your mix in the queue - so i'm not ignoring you
  8. haha how spooky was that! lol
  9. Go on your own. I've only got one mate that is into clubbing and the same style of music as me, so I usually go with her - but when she can't go, i'll go on my own. I don't mind it, and there's usually some good random strangers that'll come up to chat that don't mind be tagged along with - so its still a good night out regardless.
  10. Cheers for the mixes guys. Thanks for the PM's - i've not been around much over the weekend, so i've not been ignoring people. I'm in the process of downloading each mix now Keep them coming
  11. I'm going to be away for most of the weekend, so if everyone could PM me with their tracklists and links, i'd appreciate it - if the thread gets too long, i'll get confuzzled and lose track a bit. So far, i've got Jasons and Tremors mixes downloaded and TL'd
  12. No, because i'll have to mix everything into each other anyway so i'll mix them in the best flowing order based on what people send me. Whatever your speed and style, i'll find a place for it
  13. Some great tunes mentioned so far! Tremors are a right blast from the past - quality!
  14. Classics, new stuff, bit of both - anything welcome! As for uploading Emy - you can use anything you like really. I'm not fussy Trying to mix DnB into Trance/Techno/House will be interesting though haha
  15. Good work chaps! 320kbps MP3's would be perfect please I'll get cracking on my mini-mix over the next couple of days too. Not sure what i'm gonna play yet Any more people interested?
  16. Who's up for a board members mix then? Basically, if we all record a three-track mix, and then everyone sends those three-track mixes over to me, i'll mix them all together to make one long board members mix. If you're up for it, reply to this thread, record a three track mix (no intro's please for obvious reasons) and then send me the link. Deadline is 1st April Also, please post a tracklisting so that I can post the complete tracklisting for the full length mix afterwards It may be worth telling people what tunes your going to play in advance so that we don't end up with repeated tunes. The last thing we want is Green Martian - Industry 6 times, or 4 people using an Obama accapella (unlikely though!). Download Links JJA Board Members Mix Part 1 JJA Board Members Mix Part 2
  17. I don't think its Signum either - its not really their style, but there are a few elements (the synth, and lead drum), etc that sound like the style they used. The problem with back then is that a lot of people were using the same hardware and used some of the same features - which is why stuff is so hard to identify. These days, everyone has more of a unique sound, so you can normally ID the artist straight away without having heard the tune before. I think this is going to be one of those that is never solved
  18. It doesn't sound anything like a Paul Masterson production in my opinion. Around that time, Masterson had a funky-edged Trance sound where the emphasis was placed around kick drums and a punchy bassline. This doesn't seem like his style. Can I throw a spanner in the works and say that a few elements in this tune remind me of Signum's sound from back then?

"Like pensioners on a bus, we're trippin'" "We're covering more fields than a tractor" (Creamfields 2002) "We're banging like the rabbits from Watership Down" "The tunes are phatter than John Prescott" "Creating more beats per minute than Tony Blair's ticker"

Good idea mate! I reckon that if this site is going to be the ultimate shrine to Jules, then it should cover everything - from Julesisms and tracklistings. I reckon Jules should send us all a copy of every tunes he owns too - so that we can bring back memories of Jules's good old tunage in our very own bedrooms
  21. Here's Dave with a loyal follower from the Escape club - one that looks a bit like Matthew Kelly. "Tonight Matthew, i'm going to be Dave Pearce"
  22. I can't comment too much because i've not been - but from what i've seen and heard, the agreement between Slinky and Elements was that Elements had to invest in a better sound system if Slinky were to take their business there.
  23. I've listened to many Scousers, and never managed to work out a word of what they're saying. You've done well there lad, i'll give you that
  24. Yeah, what defines a "cheesy" tune anyway? I wouldn't say ATB - 9pm was a cheesye tune. I'd say it was a commercial tune. A cheesy tune to me is something corny, poorly/cheaply produced with cringeworthy vocal that hits the big time for the wrong reasons - artists such as DJ Sammy, Scooter, etc Darude - Sandstorm, ATB - 9pm, etc - in my opinion, were just commercial. I personally feel there's a big difference between something cheesy and commercial. I wouldn't be afraid to play something commercial in my sets, but I wouldn't touch DJ Sammy, etc with a bargepole. I liked Sandstorm, and i'll still play the Signum remix of 9pm til I come now.
