Bjorn Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Right, after checking out this second hand deck my student union were selling - tunes were only coming out of one channel (the left) - i rang a few service centres and they said it could cost around 40 quid to fix - so i told the manager of the SU so she ofered to sell me the deck for £50!!! which i swiftly did! I got it home, plugged it in my system and the channel was then working slightly but not properly - this is the state of the deck:- i decided to dissasemble it to clean it and try and source the problem. After finding no obvious problems i re-assembled the deck to try it again, except now nothing was coming through the phono cable  me and my mate thought that it was the phono cable cos it was a state and looked a bit melted - so we went to our local garage and borrowed a multimeter to do a continuity test on the phono cable - after which we found it was f***ed (phew!!) after much sitting around waiting, my mates finally returned from my other mates house with sum solder (in which time i set to cleaning the 1210 up!) with the solder we replaced the phono cable with a new one, and after about 10 hours spent on it yesterday i finally re-assembled it and tryed it and it works perfectly!! heres a pic now im finished:- all that needs doing is to clean that silver pen off, and then im gonna get a blue or pink LED kit to change the LED's! what a bargain for £50 eh!!!!! i spent £0 repairing it!
