Wakey
Not happy about NeYo beating Embrace to number one Apparently Embrace lost out because their download sales weren't counted properly earlier this week apparently and there was no way in getting back the ones that hadn't been counted? JasonB
I actually like this new Embarce one too, only the 2nd tracks of theirs lol, ne-yo is as crap as his video. the charts people need to get their act together or Embrace may be back down the job centre soon. thirddrive
What has happened to the Top 40? It used to be a credible was of judging music tastes, now it's on it's arse. It's only pop and RnB that seems to make such an impact and crappy boy band style indie. Remember the good old days when tunes used to climb there was to the top 10 rather than going in straight at the top and having a new number 1 each week! Nostalgia... Max Kane
Top 40 means nothin to me really, it's nice to see good acts and bands doing well but generally i don't care either way. What is great is that Ne-Yo is number 1 yet The Kooks who are about number 30 will see more money off of their single as they wrote it themselves recorded it themselves and are supported by a loyal fan base that buys albums, Ne-Yo will back flippin burgers in 3 weeks time
Quadrant
Can I admit to not having watched the Top 40 chart for over 10 years? It was the medium that gave dance music it's poor image imo  I agree with thirddrive's views also.
bigsteve
Too much publicity before they go on sale now. tbh, I have no idea whats in the charts these days. I rarely listen to commercial radio or Radio 1 daytime
Max Kane
It's basically the Bandwagon top 40 now, whatever genre is deemed cool by the uber masses is the genre that dominates the chart. We all just have to put up with the period where our genre is the 'in' thing, when artists like ATB sold out and DJ Sammy forged a career
thirddrive
If you think about 1999 though, loads of the classic trance tracks were appearing in the Top 30, System F, Gouryella, Push, Vincent de Moor. I remember seeing M.i.k.e. looking a little out of place on TOTP pressing buttons along to The Legacy cos it got to No. 21 or something!
Max Kane
Yeh seeing dance acts on TOTP was always cringe inducing. Was better when they simply played the vid as opposed to appear live. Same goes for most 'live' pa's. the dj turns up and stands there while the singer mimes along, or (i'm tlkin to you Abpve & Beyond) the singer is found out live and the studio magic that was used to make the voice remotely tollerable is gone ('Alone Tonight' at Global anyone?) I would have loved to have seen that. I remember the Pet Shop Boys playing in the late 1980s and Chris was just on the keyboards pretending to play with a dead-pan face oops, showing my age there... thirddrive
You should listen to Radio 1's Colin and Edith this week - or at least listen again to todays show between 1&2 - my co host from URN on weds nights was on Lunchtime link up! Edith Bowman was asking her if she thought I got moody like Colin when I don't get my way! Plus, there's a dodgy pic of me on the website.
Wakey
I listen to the radio now and again during the day, normally moyles in the morning, sometimes mills in the evening, hence I hear a lot of the stuff going into the charts. I don't really listen to the charts tho. Just heard about this farce! Embrace, incidentley are doing the world cup song for England this year.
