Neuro
Slightly unfortunate to break those bones in his foot, Owen is a worry as well, who's gonna be our main strikers for the World Cup now? I see Gerrard is quoted in the Mirror as saying "without Rooney we'll never win the World Cup" - good one mate :? Rooney won't be ready for the group games; I'd take him on the plane anyway in order to play him for the Quarter-finals (if we reach that) or beyond, but is that realistic? JasonB
Brazil should win this year I say.
Max Kane
Sven has said he'll take him along even if he's only fit for the final. Personally i think we're screwed, without Rooney we're well short up front. Owen would probably play with Crouch, could work but only if midfield players can chip in with goals, only alternative i see is Owen by himeslf up front with two wingers, similar to Chelsea's system, that could be very hit & miss though. HIGGZY
Roony cant win the competion on his own, yeah he is an amazing player but the damage is done. I say bring in Defo early in the competion he is the kind of player that when he plays well he is uncontolerble, i do like Owen but he just seems like a wet blanket. Roony should go IMO, i have given up reading the papers now days and i still think its kinda strange that it has happened at to Roony now! I agree with Jason, Brazil to win and i think Roony will play at some stage.

Neuro
Good call about Defoe, he's a pacey lad who's been waiting in the sidelines for so long, similar to Owen but could you pair him with Peter Crouch?? Tactically Crouch I think is a mouthful for the opposition, but he's even lankier than me and, I dunno he just looks awkward! lol
Max Kane
If Crouch played we would need some goal scoring from midfield, as i said before. He isn't gona win any golden boot award is he? Defoe can score goals and has proven that but he hasn't been playing and i'd much prefer Owen to him, possibly Darren Bent deserves a go, scored a lot of goals this year and, though i don't think he's an inetrnational class player, he could work as a foil for Owen. bigsteve
I thought you were meaning he would survive to the 2010 World Cup and then get booted out! Didn't realise he had a 4 year contract
Quadrant
Yeah that too! We keep them for 1 World Cup then bin them. Why did Sven have to go in the end anyway, was it just because he was costing the FA a fortune? I liked his wife.
