Simcut
Im getting bored of trance.... I'm finding about 95% of trance being released within the last couple of years is utter s*** and every one and their mum is being signed to a label and there is some absolute utter garbage out there! I've become really dissillusioned by it all! Trance will never be as good as it was in the 1997-2000 era, period. Although I say this, I have a million one thanks for the likes of Stoneface & Terminal who are the only ones that seem to be keeping me interested in normal trance.....! Am I the only one that feels like this? all I think now is "Oh look, another 16 year old kid has started his own label up on DJDownload / Audiojelly and is releasing computerised garbage that even your biggest "All Around The World / Clubworld" loving twats would turn their noses up at!" Oh, dont get me started on AATW / Clubland - what utter toss! Has anyone heard that "Mickey Modelle ft. Jessy" song thats on MTV all the time? what a load of f***ing w***! My gran could produce better than that and she's been in a home with auszheimers for 7 years. Seriously, what the f*** is that all about? the vocals dont even go with the music, mind you, I wouldnt half mind bonking the buttcheeks off Jessy, phwoar! I'd have to have a word with her though, being involved in such a load of toss. As for Cascade, fantastic looking bird but shameful load of s***. What is that new track of hers? it samples Savage Garden for christ sake, SAVAGE GARDEN! aaaargh, now thats a band I really hated.....errm I think I have the solution, ITALIAN EURO DANCE, eh Noff?? hmm perhaps not, that has died its death too....used to love a bit of italian dance music! I dont think Noff cares about Italian Dance Music anymore, he's too busy finding his way to a spot in Sicily.....you know what I'm saying Noff!! I spy, with my little eye, something beginning with G. Nice to see Fedde Le Grande go #1 mind, I still like it even though its been played more than Britney Spears has shown her growler. On another note, there's some right wicked dirty house coming out at the moment, like a bit of Swedish House too! Dirty f***ers those swedes....eh Bjorn? hmmm Paolo Mojo - 1983 (Eric Prydz Mix) is f***ing sexy!!! Jesus I'm having a right rant at the moment, im going to get to bed I think.....night! P.S. WELCOME BACK TIMOTEI YOU SILLY HOEGAARDEN LOVING SAUSAGE! - I was thinking about you the other day when I was having a s***, haha! Not really mate, I was thinking about you when I tried to order a bottle of Hoegaarden in a local bar and the bastards sold out. I thought to myself, Tim wouldn't be having any of that, he'd rip them to pieces!! Welcome back me old mucka!! Simon

Briggsy
Thats odd because I feel that 2006 has seen the quality come back into Trance. For a while, especially around 2003-2004, there was a lot of fairly mediocre productions creeping into sets, but this year, we've seen some really good Trancers again. I think the key to Trance now is trawling the smaller labels instead of the "major" labels. Discovery has been a great label this year, and Somatic Sense is another. The "major players" have sold themselves out to the commercial market, whereas the smaller labels just release quality Trance. I also feel that the newcomers have made more of an impact on the production side of things than the old-heads. Sean Tyas has had a good year, Sander Van Doorn has had a good year, as has John O' Callaghan, Greg Downey, etc. I think their enthusiasm is high, they want to hit the big time, and they have some fresh ideas. The "old heads" have already hit the big time, and perhaps they're not pushing the same boundaries as they once were. Perhaps they've gone a bit stale, or the enthusiasm isn't what it was? Who knows..... Its all about the newcomers and smaller labels imo. Its not just Trance that has suffered anyway. House isn't what it was either. I remember quality tracks such as Soulsearcher - Can't Get Enough, Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke, Powerhouse feat Duane Harden - What You Need, etc - but now thats been replaced with cheese. Techno also hasn't got the same feel to it as it used to. Times have changed and we're just comparing it to the good old days I think. The quality is still there. Marty Mayes
AS Sir Simcut Put It... Has anyone heard that "Mickey Modelle ft. Jessy" song that's on MTV all the time? what a load of f****** w***! Well sim as Mickys my manager i can explain why hes went down the CHEESE route wen micky was producing under Electroheadz & Nimrod it just wasnt selling and he wasnt makin much of a wage were as if he makes the cheesey crap it SELLS and sells in a big way m8. As for Trance being dead i dont think it is m8 im really enjoying some of the tunes at the min... i do agree with u about the clubland s*** like it really needs 2 go but it sells massively and its gonna b hard educating teens from clubland music 2 proper music there just being brainwashed by that clubland crap!! i think micky and ryan might still produce under nimrod but not 2 sure if it will last
Max Kane
I began to lose interest in some of the run of the mill trance music about 18months ago. I found myself discovering new DJs & producers though & my sound moved towards the prog trance stuff. I think you need to find a new niche mate, there are loads of incredible DJs & producers out there to be discovered. This year has been the best year for tunage for a long time for me, loads of new producers & labels producing good quality dance music. I don't take any notice of the cheesy arm of dance music, for a few years now it's been thyere pissing everyone off except for the little kiddies who buy clubland albums, they can keep it it doesn't bother me because i don't care about it, it's the same with watered down guitar bands, they sell their creative soul to make a quick buck, it's up to them if that's what they wana do. Trance music has been electric this year, hopefully 07 will be just as strong

Quadrant
So if one were creating music for a living, then so be it with the commercial bandwagon; but if one were creating music for the love of music, then it would be more creative, unique, pleasurable - even though it might not sell as well. I for one much rather be remember for producing 1 amazing original record than 100 average commercial ones. And often it's that one record that make a party, that makes a night, that creates that atmosphere... where is the love these days, huh?

Bloodey tripe. As for trance this year, I've got into trance a bit more than last year but even more so porg trance. There is a s***load of crap abaout but with guidance of a few certain peeps who I'm grateful to, I'm being made aware of good stuff. The time period of greatness Simon also mentioend I'd widen a little bit but am in general agreemnet again. Knight hi Quad!
