Happy New Year

a mate's place for a good old fashioned house party, best way to spend ny eve for me

Definately! Going out on NYE is over-hyped, over-priced, and often a big disappointment. It costs a bomb to get in places, drinks prices go up, and a week later you look back thinking "blimey, I spent a fortune and it wasn't all that good".

At least at a party, you can make the night your own and buy three times as much booze from Tesco for half the price it would have cost if you'd gone out.

I'm having a quiet night in with the family tonight because my dad was in hospital for the last two NYE's after suffering heart attacks, so I think its appropriate to see the new year in with him this year. Sods law though - i've had more invites to do things on NYE this year than ever before...... :(

True! I've smashed god knows how many mirrors, seen god knows how many black cats, put 12 pairs of shoes on a new table, and put 23 umbrellas up indoors, but apart from having 3 arms, 1 leg, a glass eye, no teeth, 28 divorces, 6 houses reposessed and 4 bankruptcies, i've been very lucky in life :D

"Happy New Year" to you all.

I went to a friend's house party which was just brilliant. We put the TV on just before midnight and after toasting in the New Year we watched the fireworks display at the London Eye which was pretty spectacular. A good night was had by all.

Shame about all the events that had to be cancelled due to bad weather.

We had a very quiet one and stayed in.

Quite funny watching BBC Scotland broadcasting fireworks from Edinburgh castle from previous years!

The wind and rain was attrocious and there was no option other than to cancel events here. However, Edinburgh left it til just before 9PM to cancel which isn't really fair for people to make alternative arrangements. Maybe a case of Edinburgh organisers concerned because it was cancelled a few years ago too. The weather was moving across the country and from what we had here in Glasgow, Edinburgh's weather was clearly going to get worse! Rant over

I wish everyone a happy 2007 8-)

Never plan anything too much on NYE - I find it usually goes very wrong! Went into town for a pub crawl - but then people actually went home before midnight because they had been drinking the night before and had reached their limit far too early! Ended up going to local pub to meet a couple of more friends, it annoyed me though because we always end up there EVERY year - needless to say trying to do something different is not worth it!

But anyway alls well that ended well, went back to friends flat after seeing in 2007 in a good atmosphere really. We'd hid bottle of vodka in a bush outside beforehand so didn't have to carry it around town, so swiftlyopened that. Was fun night in the end, met some new people too so all good!
