Don't talk about rips please guys...

Hey all,

Tim, KR, Bjorn, and myself recently discussed rips being talked about on the forums and we came to the decision that ripping tunes should not be requested on the forums, we don't want the site to go down that route and we don't want any trouble either. I think this site has big things going for it in the long run, definately, an increase of forum users being one of them. Therefore, lets set an example :-)

If you want to ask people to rip a tune please can you PM them, dont post about it. We've had to remove a few posts recently, or edit them. I will be going through old forum posts and editing them as such...or deleting if necessary (wont delete willy nilly...)

Obviously uploading your own mixes is absolutely fine...as is any edits of tunes you have done etc, also recording samples for Tune ID's or to spread the word on a tune...but please, no rips and no requesting them :)

Thanks!

 Ripping a track is no different than editing one and reposting it, or using a track in a recorded mix without permission... so why one and not the other?!

Doesn't affect me as I don't ask for rips anyway. ;)

This is not a case of one being illegal and one not; it's more of a case of trying to avoid full high-quality rips of single tracks being made available to casual non-members of the board to download. On a purely personal note, I have no problem with people posting mixes - quite the opposite, I encourage it. With regards to single track rips though, what Simon's saying is that such dicussion is best kept within private messaging or within other spaces [link removed] . ;)

When I say Edit's of tunes I mean like someone did hear with Apache - Starfighter and Digger - Episode 1, I guess I mean mashups lol :D

Trust you to have a whinge though ;)
