Briggsy
What are they??!! to sound dumb. They're search engine spiders. They come in to crawl the site, and then send the info back to the relevant search engines to determine an appropriate ranking for the site. The more that crawl, the better it is for the site as it means the site is being crawled more often and in depth. I've got special software to help improve my sites search engine ranking, and got it to number one on Yahoo and MSN within a few months. Still trying to conquer Google though but i'll get there eventually
bigsteve
AH right, I saw this a while ago and wondered what it meant. I notice its 'online' atm. So does this mean our posts are now searched by Google? If so, that is well good stuff
Briggsy
So does this mean our posts are now searched by Google? If so, that is well good stuff Yeah, but they always would have been. I think its just this new forum showing the spiders that are on the site, whereas before, they did it in the background without anyone knowing. If you type in "Judge Jules" in Google, this site is the first on the second page
bigsteve
Yeah, I was meaning are our posts now subject to a Google searches? I knew the main listings were, but not necessarily the posts
Neuro
If you type in "Judge Jules" in Google, this site is the first on the second page If you mention "tracklistings" at all with that, this site comes top I need to update a file to allow the search engine spiders to view all the posts and topics; at the moment I'm preventing them, so they can't do much on here except see the main index page. What do people think - would it be good to have topics and posts available on Google etc?
bigsteve
I think it would be a great idea. Particularly when people are searching for specific tunes and its mentioned in the forums, but not in the TL page. There is an awful lot of knowledge on the forums, in the way of previous posts made by the kind folk on here (myself clearly excluded ).
Briggsy
I think its a good idea too, and great promotion for Bjorn! If someone types in "Swedish porn star with a suspect hair-do" in Google, Bjorn will appear in the number 1 slot. Bjorn could be the JJA Google dominator! Chrissie Brown
Its a very good idea. However, the tracklistings aren't up todate so anyone wanting an accurate t/l since last July isn't going to find it, which is very embarrassing. Tim, any idea when the T/Ls will be updated. Simcut has been trawling through the old ones, i might well start on sum newish ones. Bjorn you're welcome to have a crack at reconstructing the new 2007 page in the style of the the other years, as there's no dates on there yet... if not leave it to me (I'll do it this week) and just create the pages for the newer TLs - once we have the content, we can link them in at any time later Tim, are you ignoring me. Sorry, completely missed your question! the answer is that we're working on all the TLs behind the scenes now, not just the new ones - we'll get it up soon, don't you worry
