thirddrive
I'm Leaving London, people (well, Worcester anyway).. On 4th May I jet off to New York on a 3 month trip abroad. I'm going to be traversing the East and West coasts of America, before moving on to stay with a friend in Sydney, then meeting another friend in Japan for some Lost In Translation style action. basically, i'm after any advice from the seasoned travellers among you..i'm pretty sorted when it comes to choosing/using hostels etc, but does anyone have any tips about getting the best out of say, NYC or Washington on a budget and being a lone traveller? I'm sure Bigsteve can help out in the very least! I'm hoping to see some Djs too whilst i'm out there too and pick up some tuneage. The thought of record shopping in Chicago or NYC is amazing, although i'm bypassing Detroit!
bigsteve
Firstly, you'll have a blinder of a time mate. 3 months away, I reckon, is just about the right amount of time before you start missing home, tunes and decent clubs. I was just about ready to come home after 3 months. As far as NYC and Washington are concerned, we didn't do either on our trip in 2005, but the best advice I can say to you is buy guide books for every place you go. Sounds simple, but otherwise its all too easy to miss places to visit and the tips are always fantastic, especially when it comes to the best deals for getting about on Public Transport. You'll end up meeting so many people doing the same as you and they'll have plenty of tips too. I'll try and catch you on msn before you go
Simcut
The only Lost In Translation style I'd want is to bonk Scarlett Johansson, but that's another story for another day I find travelling a bit of an arse ache, cause I'm a lanky sod the normal plane seats for me are terrible!! being 6'4 sucks sometimes
