Gods @ BIC

Did anyone else go to the Gods event at the BIC on April 7th? After last years balg of cueing for 1.75 hours to get in and having to stand behind some bloke looking claiming he was Jules' best mate (yeah, sure. Thats why he was cueing!) this year I was pleasantly supprised to walk straight in.

I have to admit I was a bit alarmed at the lack of people inside but I had faith in that it'd soon fill up. It didn't...

I dont get why but the numers must have been seriously down as both the Tidy room and the main Gods room were somewhat lacking in capacity. Last years event there it took ages to get anywhere near the front but this one we just walked round the outside of the crowd and we were at the front!

I think this was reflected by the fact that we were offered tickets by the Gods staff in the middle of B'mouth on saturday afternoon.

It was a real shame that it was lacking those extra people as it was a top night. I wasn't overly excited about seeing Ferry (sorry  ) so we stuck it out in the Tidy arena till PVD was on. The tidy boys were top drawer as usuall although I guess if you dont like the harder stuff then they'd have been crap. Plenty of Tidy classics to amuse everyone.

PVD was good as ever and bashed out a few harder tracks (Get the Cleenex!), which I always prefer in his sets.

Eddie was so pre-occupied using his 909 and scratching that he made a couple of uncharacteristic cock-ups. This was totally understandable as if any of us tried to do that then I guarantee we'd make a whole lot more mistakes than that. The guy is unreal. His first track had hardly started and he was scratching over it!!

Marcel woods played a blinder and it was a bit of a shame that the room emptied quite a bit after Eddie stopped but I guess some people don't want to stay that long or only go for the 'big names'. Marcel couldnt really fail with tracks such as 'Greece 2000 - M.Woods rmx'.

Not sure if they'd have another event down there based upon the attendance of that one. It'd be a gamble.

I think there were three reasons really.

a) For the line-up, it was very over-priced. All of the DJ's are DJ's that you can see quite regularly in the UK for a third of the price.

B) Travelling. Bournemouth isn't very centrally located - whereas "Air" is. Travelling down to Bournemouth, after already paying high ticket prices, would be expensive, and a bit of a jaunt.

c) The Slinky fans seemed to have spat their dummies out and opted not to go when Dav Gomrass (Slinky resident), was, to my understanding, removed from the line-up by Godskitchen, with no valid explanation, and replaced with Mark Eteson instead. Early flyers had Dav Gomrass's name on. the Slinky fans seemed to think that Godskitchen had no intention of ever using Dav Gomrass - they just used his name to pull in the Slinky regulars to help boost ticket sales.

Good to hear good reviews about Marcel Woods though. Again, as always, he's overshadowed by the A-listers, when, 9 times out of 10, he plays far better than them. Marcel Woods is one of the most consistent DJ's around at the moment - the only gripe is that his sets are very predictable. The Advances, Cherry Blossoms, U2 - Vertigo bootleg, Greece 2000, and Marco V's Automanual and False Light are pretty much guaranteed in his sets every time you hear him. Great DJ - he just needs to be less predictable so that he's taken more seriously.

Is this the guy i think it is, as I overheard a few people down that someone was claiming that. I was laughing my tits off. Last year I must of been queing not far behind you!
