Simcut
Hey all, I've FINALLY moved in to my sister's old room!!!!! but...... I got my 2nd deck out from under the stairs and also hooked up my mixer and I have a problem. When I am using the right-hand deck in phono 3 on the mixer the sound only comes out of 1 ear, and its nothing daft I am doing. Is it a problem with the deck or the mixer? I'm well pissed off, after all this time and something ain't right! Any guidance would be great, thanks. My equipment is as follows:- 2 x Technics SL1200-MK2 1 x Gemini PS626i Mixer Cheers Simon
Simcut
Okay, panic over. I panicked way too much then lol, it was a loose connection on the Cart for the right-hand deck, PHEW!!!!!!!!!
Neuro
Carts are like that if they're not fixed in properly - when I'm ripping vinyl the channels are sometimes not quite equal, and I've always fixed it by making sure it's in the tonarm correctly and the needle is correctly aligned to the vinyl surface
Simcut
Yeah mate....anyway, some pics need to be taken guys, my setup is almost complete. I'm buying speakers for my birthday in July! Simcut
what about the height of the tone arm Jase?
Tremor
I think the height of the tonearm depends on the Cart used, the manual normally gives a recomendation. I have Ortofon concord nightclub carts and have always had the height set at 0 because they sit perfectly flat at that height. Not sure if its right but I've never had any problems. Its just trial and error really, If you have any issues with jumping easily then try changing the height. As for the weight you roll back the counter balance until the arm with the cart and stylus on floats flat in the air (the anti-skate should be set at 0 while you do this). Then reset the weight indicator to zero in this position. Then wind it back on to the desired weight according to the manual (I use 3). Then the anti-skate should be set to the same value as the weight (so mine again is 3).

bigsteve
it was a loose connection on the Cart for the right-hand deck, PHEW!!!!!!!!! The same has happened to me in the past! I have different decks from you, but tone-arm weight is all down to personal preference really. I set the tone arm floating horizontal and work backwards from there until the needle doesn't skip when I'm rocking the vinyl back and forth. Once its set, don't touch it - EVER! Uberduck
Ortofon Concorde Pro S. Absolute wicked cart's. Cant fault them. I had the same problem with the bad connection when I first set my decks up ll those years ago & after a bit of panicking I sorted it out...... phew . Simcut
Isn't it horrible? I was s***ting myself thinking I'd have to pay out huge amounts of money for a new mixer or even worse a new deck....thankfully that's not the case anymore :-)
