Internet Wisdom

Guess there's a bit of internet knowledge on here so I may aswell harness that. I switched my anti-virus software from Symantec to Avast recently. Ever since switching, the internet seems to remember all my usernames and search topics (google etc). This annoys me a bit really but more importantly is a bit of a potential security risk.

Is it the anti-virus software that dictates whether these details are remembered or is it Windows? It never did it on Symantec for the three months I used that software.

Any pointers would be sweet

Its in Windows mate - although its odd why its only just started happening.

Go into Star >> Settings >> Contro Panel >> Internet Options >> Content, then go down to where it says Auto COmplete, click on Settings, then where it says use autocomplete for, untick the options you don't want. By the sounds of it, you need to untick "Forms" and "Usernames & Passwords on forms"

That shouold sort you out

This is very useful if you want to avoid the embarrassing situation of someone borrowing your computer, going to google, and, after typng in just one letter, Internet explorer helpfully "guesses" what you're going to write with its autocomplete funtion.

For instance, by typing in just "a" into the google box, maybe it will guess from previous visits you meant "animal", or "Anna Kornikova", or "anal (ysis)".
