Quadrant Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 (edited) I am deeply upset at the confusion it caused me today, and it hasn't even happened yet. Now the wife is laughing - how can I get my own back? I am thinking getting up at 2am and changing all the clocks to the real time tonight, it would give me an "extra" hour in bed because she won't realize the clocks are correct? I need to check out the microwave manual though, that digital one is fiddly and it might give the game away if it starts beeping loudly whenever I press a button. If it does it deserves a good smiting with my sword! Edited October 27, 2007 by Quadrant Quote
Aza Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Yeah... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_summer_time Quadrant, just get your wife really drunk and give her a monster hang-over so she will deffo oversleep Quote

Max Kane Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 A bizarre thread! What's the difference between mead and wine though? Normal people drink wine, Quadrant drinks mead Quote
bigsteve Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 The first difference is that I'd never heard of Mead, so it was Wikipedia time again: Mead is made from fermented honey and water. Wine, well I think we know that one Quote
Briggsy Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Mead is made from fermented honey and water. Add a bit of Lemon, and then its called a Lemsip! Quote
Quadrant Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Excuse me, but mead is in keeping with the medieval tradition and I will NOT tolerate rudeness on its subject. On the contrary, it is best warmed by an open log fire.... Quote
bigsteve Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 it is best warmed by an open log fire.... Has anyone ever heard of a closed log fire? Quote
Quadrant Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Well yes, you can have the fireguard in front of it, which stops the fire spitting red hot ash onto your carpet and potentially burning your house down or blinding a child, but I find they are not necessary when the fire has established itself, and in fact they do reflect a lot of heat back into the fire and not into the room, which is the whole point. If I'm burning fir tree branches, holly or plastic though, I do put the guard back up briefly as sometimes it can get quite fierce. Quote
