Quadrant
Being slightly older than some persons on here, I believe this is a throwback from the 1980s, and whilst I liked it then, I find it irritating now - and yet everyone is producing it. It is influencing both the traditional genres of House and Trance and I don't like it, contaminating airwaves, DJs, messageboards, and fans the world over. Can anyone really tell me they listen to some electro elements in a tune and feel "ah, that bit was so good, so emotional, I want to experience that again"? Music is about emotion and being able to feel it and dance it, and I can't to either to this raw, 80s sound. Opinions?
Max Kane
Certain aspects of electro that have seeped into trance have been good, but the majority has been awful. The whole electro-house scene seems a little pretentious & just appears to trade off of buzz words, I see so many nights which bill 'electro' but have no real concept of what they're advertising. I don't really take much interest in it to be honest, if a track that I hear appeals to me then I'll play it, simple as. Whether it be pidgeon-holed or not
Neuro
I was never a great fan when Ferry went all electroey on us a few years back; although I can understand he was getting tired of the overproduction of THAT trance sound, it has never touched me in the same vein as the older stuff... I'm still discovering and buying great obscure records from the millenium era even today.
Moonman
its a fad. i remember in THAT late 90's era is was all about the funky/disco thing. Then from about 2002-2004 it all went tribal, then 2005- present day Electro is the major influence. Somebody somewhere will make a record which will ignite peoples interest in another major influence and you'll hear loads of records copying it again. For me personally i like Electro but i find it's a lot more disposable and not as memorable. I grew up on the funky house/trance sounds so obviously they are the best. They complement each other so well. I do agree though, Electro isnt very emotional at all. I find it very cold.

JasonB
Good question where has the past 2 years worth of electrp phase sprung from, well the electro clash scene really is responsable ladytron and scissor sisters (well their version of comfortably numb certainly) groups like they I think have sorta spawned it City Rockers was doing the electro thing a few years before teh current phase caught on.
