Uberduck
As a lifelong Man U fan I've been all to aware of this sad event but until the recent press leading up to todays 50th anniversary it hasn't shocked me so much. I know people die in accidents of this type all the time but being my club, this feels personal and I'm sure most Man U fans agree. Of course there were others that died amongst the Busby babes but it's the promise that young team held that made it so tragic. It's amazing to hear how highly the players that survived the crash rated their lost team mates. Duncan Edwards was rated higher than any and the past players say that he if he was a player today, he'd be better than any. That's some claim isn't it. I think it's important that Bobby Charlton gave the current squad a talk about this and showed them a DVD as it's vital that the current players understand our history and what Man U represent. Here's hoping that the City fans respect the minutes silence on Sunday as I fear trouble will result if they don't. It's an ideal opportunity for them to really get at us as they know the importance of it. Thank god it's not the scousers on Sunday as I can't see them respecting it. Bjorn
Yeh as a massive sports fan myself i think it is very important we remember the busby baes...can u imagine if such an event happened today? I really hope the Man City fans do not disrupt the silenece as in my opinion there is nothing worse that someone who cannot respect those who have died. Uberduck
The problem is that rivalry between such clubs is so fierce that they will do anything to upset them. Look at some of the Man U songs; they slate the scousers for tragedies such as Hillsborough and Heisel. That isn't really fair considerng innocent people died but football is evil sometimes. I would like to think that Man U fans wouldn't ever act inappropriately if they were asked to respect another teams loss but there are always some idiots. These people pretend that they're doing it for the club but really it's just an excuse to cause trouble.
Simcut
Very very sad what happened, I watched 2 documentaries on TV last night (one on BBC1 the other on BBC4) - very moving, made me choke. Harry Gregg is a legend, why isn't he a SIR?

Uberduck
Was a shame last night to hear people shouting and whistling during the silence. It was only a handful out of 70 odd thousand. There's always one idiot.
