JasonB
This thread is simply about High Contrast recently remixing, Axwell, Utah Saints and Now Eric Prydz-Pjanoo (Fabio Played it on sunday morning), even Data have signed a Drum N Bass track by J Majik for release which is all good but kinda odd! Also High Contrast has remixed the new Adele single. I remember back in 97 98 time Roni Size remixed a lot of pop stuff and some house stuff, for me High Contrast is doing on a smaller scale what Roni did, turnedout some cracking remixes but some a bit of a let down. Basically whos for more drum N bass remixes of houe stuff or even pop stuff again?
Max Kane
That High Contrast remix of Pjanno is actually pretty good, & is certainly getting a lot of exposure. Roni Size was completely unique imo he made totally different tracks to any other d'n'b producer I've ever encountered, he's probably the only one who could make an album & actually sustain enough quality & individuality right the way through to keep you interested
JasonB
D N B artist albums are definately patchy affairs for me, I bought a couple of tracks from Commix's album and Danny Byrds but bought the entire Utah Jazz album and did a while ago buy a 2cd calibre album (maybe this tells me ima more liquid funk guy!). New Forms still is a excellent album from start to finish whereas Ronis recent take on things (new forms 2) bar the new version of Share The Fall was crap, crammed to many tracks onto one cd making key tracks shorter pointlessly. He is a solid producer mind andagreat innovater. High Contrast mixes of Adele are a bit crap to me but his axwell Utah saints and now Prdyz remixes are all spot on, I'm all for them. Uberduck
God this is going back a long time but I used to love the DJ Zinc rmx of Fugees - Ready or Not. Don't really like the modern D&B though. I'm more of a baseline man .
Moonman
I have to say, i really like the more meldodic, hooky drum n bass. I'm all for the more poppier remixes to be fair. In the pop/house template drum n bass works so well. The problem with drum n bass is, that its a close knit circle - and the big players want to keep it that way so they can control it. I suppose, thats why i like High Contrast. He's just doing what he wants to do, and why not? Drum n Bass is usually just too moody and "metallic" for me, there's no hookline or melody in it. High Contrasts recent remixes have been very very good, i particularly like his Utah Saints one...and the Axwell one...oh bugger i like the Pjanoo one too! That other track is J Majik & Wickaman, that for me, is quite a brilliant track. Why drum n bass cant be more like this i'll never know.
