++ THE RESULTS ++

A big thank you to everyone who has voted for your favourites in The Gallery Awards 2008. We’ve been absolutely flooded with emails from you lot, receiving an overwhelming number of votes. This has certainly made the Awards very interesting indeed with many battles across each category!! So then folks, without much further ado, the votes are in and we can now reveal the names of this year’s winners....

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

BEST GALLERY EVENT OF 2008: 21 MARCH 2008 - THE LAST EVER GALLERY AT TURNMILLS

“It had to be really didn’t it?! Anyone who was there (which seems to be everyone who voted!) will testify to what an incredible send-off the night was. Featuring all of our favourite Gallery DJs from the past 13 years, alongside Gallery Members, regulars and friends past and present... we’ll never forget this night for as long as we live.” (Paul Stix, Gallery PR chap)

BEST HEADLINE DJ OF 2008: ABOVE & BEYOND

"Gallery has always felt like home to us so this award means a lot, thanks to everyone who voted" (Jono, Above & Beyond)

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

BEST FUTURE HERO DJ OF 2008: MATT WEEKS

"To get the nomination in the first place was just crazy, but now I have actually won it, I honestly can’t believe it! To have the title as their Future Hero DJ, having clubbed at The Gallery nights before I was a DJ, and after playing for them, it really is a dream come true, a massive thing for me, can’t wait to get behind the decks for a Gallery Night again!" (Matt Weeks)

BEST RESIDENT OF 2008: GAVYN MYTCHEL

“Big thanks to all the Gallery faithful who have voted for me as Best Resident. It’s a massive honour to be a resident at a club that when I first moved to London was my regular haunt as a clubber and one that I’ve been part of for some ten years now. I look forward to seeing you all on the dancefloor at The Gallery at Ministry of Sound in 2009, bring it on!!” (Gavyn Mytchel)

BEST INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT OF 2008: MARKUS SCHULZ

"That's insane, I've not even been there a year yet, wow! I really am speechless. Needless to say, the Gallery quickly became one of, if not my favorite clubs to play at and each time I'm booked, I literally can't wait to get stuck in to it. This simply rounds off an incredible 2008 for me and my team - huge thanks to everyone who voted me. I'll see you all in February!” (Markus Schulz)

BEST BABY BOX / LOUNGE PROMOTION: PLASTIC FONDU

“Having started Plastic Fondu a year ago, it gives us great satisfaction to win an award like this at the most respected club night in the land. We want to thank those at The Gallery for giving us the opportunity to put on parties at Ministry Of Sound every month and we would like to think we have repaid their faith in us! Finally, big thanks to everyone who has supported us and voted. Here's to a great 2009 for us all! Thanks, Ross.” (Ross Sullivan, Plastic Fondu promoter)

FAVOURITE TUNE OF 2008: DEADMAU5 – ‘NOT EXACTLY’

“Hi everyone! Thanks for considering my work for your award, it’s been an amazing year for me and I couldn’t be happier to receive this title! I’m really looking forward to 2009 and my return to the UK. Thank you Gallery + MOS” (deadmau5)

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

FAVOURITE GALLERY FLYER OF 2008: SEPTEMBER MONTHLY FLYER – ‘c**kNEY SLANG DICTIONARY’ THEME

“I kind of hoped the c**kney Slang Dictionary would win as it too was once of my favourites from 2008. It certainly was the most fun to work on! Inspiration for the flyer came from a combination of different things. I'm not originally from London and have always been fascinated by c**kney Slang, most of my colleagues back at Turnmills would tell stories speaking it, thus taking me twice as long to decipher what they were a saying! Secondly, I designed it so many of our loyal followers can understand what our resident DJ Steve Lee's normally banging on about!!” (Ed Coward, Gallery creative)

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

FAVOURITE GALLERY PODCAST: ARMIN VAN BUUREN

"Amazing news, thank you so much to everyone who voted for it! I don't think I ever played the Gallery so much as I did in 2008 and making the podcast was an absolute pleasure. I'm thrilled so many people liked it - here's to a fantastic 2009". (Armin van Buuren)

GALLERY MEMBER OF 2008: TERESA ELDER

This was arguably the toughest category of them all with many strong candidates and soooo many loyal Gallery servants to choose from... Gary Steel, Paul Goff, Kathleen Lloyd, Andrew Sharpe, Richard Roy and Mark Vrijmoed were just a few of the potential winners. In the end though, there was only one winner... and the 2008 Gallery Member of the Year Award goes to TERESA ELDER. Pictured here in one of our many homemade Gallery outfits, Teresa is a Gallery diehard and Trance devotee. With two jobs to help fund her trips to The Gallery, both at Turnmills and now at Ministry of Sound, Teresa is one of ‘the faces’ for sure and can be found dancing away virtually every week. Good work Teresa, we salute!

WINNER: SALLY DAY

haha some awards make me laugh - and this is one of them. He's won "The Gallery's best resident" award. He didn't really have much competition really considering he's the only resident DJ they've got! lol
