emy Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Not sure if this is the right place to post this but how long would a 40-45 min mix take to download? (After put to MP3) Just wondering

emy Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 hhhmm would be about 60 MB Think I did my other ones as 128 bit rate...how low a bit rate can you go without affecting the quality too much? Is 128 the normal rate for MP3?
simonross46 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 The lowest I have ever been is 96 ... 128 is quite reasonable, not too low nor too high.

Is 128 the normal rate for MP3? 128 is high enough for most mixes - any lower and then it starts to sound fuzzy. Any higher, then it starts to take too long to download.
emy Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Just wondered do you give your mixes unusual names when uploading them? I am trying to think of what to call my next mix Cheers:)
Aza Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Of course - for example - check this out I encode my mixes at a variable bitrate - 128kbps to 320kbps - and ususally a CDs 80 minute mix averages at approx 100Mb, which I figure in this day and age of broadband is ok.

Moonman Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Just wondered do you give your mixes unusual names when uploading them? I am trying to think of what to call my next mixCheers:) i always just date my mixes rather than call them names. i encode them at 128kbps aswell. When i'm handing out demos though, i put a lot of effort into the artwork side of things. If it looks good, people will play it.
emy Posted February 1, 2009 Author Report Posted February 1, 2009 I can't remember now if it was 192 rate I used last time? I will have to do both then see what the difference in MB is

Max Kane Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 192 is the best option imo, good quality but not memory sapping. Call it whatever you want, don't think people care too much about the name
