JasonB
EMI has struck a deal with indie label Black Hole Recordings to handle the sales and distribution for physical releases in the UK and Ireland. The deal with the Dutch electronic dance music specialist has been reached through EMI Music Services division’s Label Services unit and will begin with the release this coming Monday of Carl B’s In Trance We Trust and 10 catalogue titles. These will include five releases from DJ Tiësto. Black Hole Recordings managing director Arny Blink says, “We’re extremely happy to be welcomed into the EMI family and look forward to a long and prosperous working relationship. With their flexible approach and excellent infrastructure, EMI Music Services was the ideal partner for us to further develop our business in the UK.” EMI Music Services’ executive vice president for sales and commercial development in Europe Matthew Crosswaite adds, “We’re delighted that Arny, Tijs and all the team at Black Hole Recordings have decided to partner with EMI Label Services in the UK and Ireland. They’re a great label that we’ve worked with in the past on a number of Tiësto projects and so we’re looking forward to working with them again.” EMI Label Services offers a menu of services such as physical and digital distribution, sales, licensing and synchronisation to both the major’s own acts and independently-signed artists and has deals in place with artists including Lady Sovereign, Fat Joe and Twista. An album by Bobby Valentino, subject of a deal with EMI Label Services, recently entered the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart in the US. Quadrant
They've landed a belter haven't they there... Solid outfit and good to see a dance label getting proper support for once. So long as this doesn't mean any drive towards the commercial.... or else I forsee 2 minute radio vocal edits flooding our poor ears
Spin Doctor
I'm surprised this, or at least something similar with a different major distributor, hasn't happened sooner as the bods at black hole do have good business heads on them. It will be interesting to see if and how EMI influences them in their future releases and output.
