  1. Clearly you're not using it right in the first place if you've gotten bored with it by now!
  2. I'm actually a fan of the new designs. It's a presentation of our heritage in an interesting and modern way - the best of both worlds. Yes, change for change sake isn't the right attitude, but blindly sticking with something because it's tradition has no merit either.
  3. After some consideration I think I'm going to head to this. A few names on the lineup which I haven't seen in some time, plus I missed out on any festivals last year. Would be good to get a contingent from here out there.
  4. All I can say is go on Rio. I can't stand Terry and Gerrard was a terrible skipper.
  5. Arrived a few days ago. To say I have been putting it into heavy rotation would be somewhat of an understatement!
  6. Tune wise, I think Jules had a bit of an upward turn in 2004. The essential mix he did live from the Tidy Weekender with Haslam and the Tidy boys was excellent, save for a bit of dodgy acapella application. Good mix of techy trancy stuff going on. It seems there were lots of nice trance numbers around this time. Matt Darey had a stormer of a year in 2004 in my book.
  7. No probs. Tracklist should be fairly easy. Loads of big tunes in there: F&W, Thrillseekers, Dogzilla, Digital Delay, etc. Just haven't got round to sitting down with notepad open and going though it all. Should be a few more where this came from too.
  8. To be honest, I wouldn't have though Jules would have a problem with doing a daytime show. He's got fairly good radio presenting skills which will be easily transferable. That said though, in the latest show of his I listened to he was reading links instead of ad libing them. Terrible! Edit: Sort of heard him on Jo Whiley's show today when I was at work. I think he's doing classic/cheesy/chart dance stuff.
  9. The sound quality of the carts designed for DJing is superb, so no doubt the detail you'd get from these, which are aimed at ripping, will be very high quality. The only thing I would say is the lack of a replacable stylus will mean you'll have to buy a whole new cart when they come to the end of thier life. Then again, my Ortofons last ages so shouldn't be too much of a problem. You might find this info of use when you set them up.
  10. It's all about the Claxxixx and Tall Paul Remix. The original just never got going enough in my book. Both these mixes insert the much needed banging factor that the original lacked.
  11. Unfortunately not! It is top notch when you find a good one though, like finding a tener on the street!
  12. Two points to make. Firstly a tracklist correction. Track 06. is Fatboy Slim - Give The Po' Man A Break [skint]. I know jules says it's 'Everybody Loves a 303' but he's wrong. He even announced the name of that track incorrect, it's Everybody NEEDS a 303. The internet has produced a fantastically disruptive force on music. Lets face it there was no technological barrier to the big DJing technology firms producing desktop CDJ quality units years before they were actually released. If Pioneer, Technics, Denon, etc. had put thier heads into gear they could have done it. The simple fact was there wasn't a market for it due to the levels of material being released on CD. The means of music distribution changed (from vinyl to digital formats) and this market requirement was opened up. Hence the sucess of the CDJ. The old top loading Pioneer CD unit which was around for ages still maintained consistent support in clubs right until the CDJ1000 got shipped.
  13. Correction: Track 06. is Fatboy Slim - Give The Po' Man A Break [skint]
  14. Just got the MG Remix 2 in the post today. Unfortunately it sounds nothing like the one I was after. At least I know with, relative, certainty that it's the number one mix now!
  15. My thoughts are exactly the same. I've got nothing but good things to say about my Ortofons. They produce a really reliable and durable cart which tracks well and has fantastic sound quality. It's hard to complain with that really. I was just interested to see if anyone had used them and how they sounded in comparison.
  16. I've got a VC pressing of Lizard with the both the respective Tall Pall edit and remix on each of the flip sides. When I get home (I'm at uni at the moment) I can look towards getting some rips up. MP3 tags, especially from tunes from this era aren't 100% reliable. Finally, as for whether the track which needs id'ing is another mix of lizard or not, well thats open to wild speculation to be honest. Jules doesn't give us enough information to work with in the link which is highly ambiguous to say the least. Secondly, we don't know the providence of the original tracklist. If it was straight from the radio one website, we all know how inaccurate they could be, and this long since the show was brocast mistakes can become entrenched. The strongest peice of argumentation that we have to work with is a synth line Jay said he recognised in track 8 from another mix of Lizard: the 'Trance Mix'. I've not heard this so I can't say either way. That being said, it's not solid enough ground to stand on to have it listed as an unknown remix of lizard in the tracklist. It has to be recorded, until a positive tune id is given, as unknown - unknown.
  17. Great show, but I am certain that the tracklist is wrong. As I pointed out in an earlier thread some time ago, along with Jay, there is a tune between Lizard and Boogie Monster which needs IDing. As such the tracklist should look like this 07. Mauro Picotto - 'Lizard' (Tall Paul Edit) [VC Recordings] 08. <--- ID ---> 09. Armand van Helden - 'Boogie Monster' [Armed] Have a look at this thread for the fill ins and outs of the the debate, though I think we should continue any discussion in this one as this is the support thread for the audio download. Track 8 is definately not the Tall Paul Remix which sounds 100% different. And, track 7 definately is the Tall Paul Edit.
  18. While the majority of you kids have probably jumped over to CDs and or laptops some of us luddites still insist on a pair of turntables in the essential DJing setup. It's come to that time again when I have to get new styli. My old carts were Ortofon Nightclub's with elliptical styli. This range has now been discontinued and replaced with a flash orange MKII model. Has anyone used these? I'm more than happy with my old nightclubs so will probably get the new model when I've got some cash together but some thoughts and comments would be useful.
  19. Track ten is Blockster - You Should Be Dancin', which was the bootleg release with orginal samples. Edit: Track twenty one is Rhythm Masters pres. Disco Dubbers - Ibiza In My Soul (Rhythm Masters Vocal Mix)

  22. If memory serves, I think there were two. I only have one: Tony De Vit [08-01-1995]. It's a propper old school mp3/tape rip on two parts. PM me if you're interested.
