  1. Just listened to the first part of of the download now. Superb. Some of the things that were mentioned about DJing really resonated. Anyone who's played records in front of people with any thought what so ever has to feel some sort of affinity with those comments.
  2. Mate, just jump in head first. Your computer isn't going to bite you if you do something wrong! Just load up Reason, create a new Subtractor, load up a patch and play with the settings. If you've got a sound you like, save the patch and move on. When you get a bit more confident look at the manual and have a look at how the soft-synth is designed, that'll give you clues where to move if you want to create a specific sound and learn how everything work. Subtractor is a fairly straightforward unit to play with anyway so you shouldn't get too lost.
  3. I cannot believe anyone has mentioned Tallulah does the hula for Hawaii! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7522952.stm
  4. It all depends on what you mean exactly by samples. If you're talking synth lines/stabs etc, producers get thier samples from the sound engineers who churn them out of synths. Others get their hands dirty a bit and and tinker with synths themselves. Others still are either ex-sound engineers (Dave Clarke, Paul Glazby, BK for example) so can do the entire process themselves. As for getting hold of them yourself, you can pay for sample CDs. Now, with the digital age you can also pay for downloads too. Track it down do loads and there used to be a fair few on Juno too. Personally though, I feel getting premade samples isn't the right way to go about things and completely disagree with your second paragraph. I like to play with soft-synths myself, and part of the enjoyment of the whole production process is this discovery and creation of leaning a new synth and trying to get good, high quality and inventive sounds out of it. I do collect samples but this is in the terms of sound effects from sources like games and films. The only premade sample packs I have are of drum machines.
  5. They've been put up in the archive in the main site. http://www.judgejulesarchive.co.uk/archive...gazine-articles
  6. Good to see these being well received. Collecting cutouts of print media was all part of my hero worship obsession back in the late 90's early 2000's. I'm certain I have some more somewhere, including a nice five minute interview from the Independent but I can't find them for the life of me. They're probably with that stackload of jules tapes I have some the same time. As soon as they are located they will be upped I can assure you of that.
  7. All the above listed records are now listed on Discogs market place. Most of them are going very cheap with lots of £1 vinyl. All items can have an offer made on them. Please check out the link below for more information. Discogs Marketplace Vinyl Sale
  8. I have been listening to this set repeatedly for the last few days. Awesome, awesome stuff. I absolutely love that Nukeluz purple sound from back then. This download has also reminded me of a few tunes I need to add to the collection. Thanks for uploading.
  9. I've finally gotten round to scanning in some Jules related articles I'd collected back in the day. Unfortunately, of all the cuttings I had many were duplicates of the ones already up on the archive. However, I still have some original content to add, so have a look at these. There's still a few more floating around somewhere that I can't find. Hopefully I will be able to upload some more in the future. I'll leave them in my Picasa account until they've been put into the archives proper. Here's the link: Assortment of Jules Scans Enjoy!
  10. Downloading now. Thanks for the work Fuzzy!
  11. Is there any chance someone could send this to me please? I'd really like to hear it.
  12. As for the track as a whole, I think you need a heavier kick and more sub. I'd filter the current bass line to keep the bass and mid then add a square or sine for the low end sub then compress the two of them together. In terms of top end. Sample quality is all important. Make sure you've got good quality samples from all the Roland machines which are a must. Try experimenting with panning and different levels of delay and reverb for different percussion tracks. Don't JUST have a one size fits all send reverb, though used subtly this can be useful to tie all tracks in together. All that being said, for your first production this is sounding very good. My first tune was a shocker! Keep at it and post back any results
  13. Well I can say after listening to those clips, only one caught my attention and I already have that on vinyl! Shoddy remixes all round.
  14. I still have them up for grabs so let me know if you're still interested! It is a new financial month now after all!
  15. Hello ladies and gents. Due to an extreme restriction in the amount of space in my house and the ever increasing burden in the shape of new vinyl, I've finally had a clear out of records. It's a bit of a rag tag bunch but let me know if you're interested in any. Some tunes from Jules' turn of the millennium playlists. If they’re not taken, will be listed on discogs / ebay. 16. Used to love the prodigy? Still well worth loving if you ask me!
  17. 500w should be ample for the size of the marquee and the number of people. Bear in mind though that sound systems outside will need to be played louder than you would need them indoors where they rely on the echo caused by hard walls to make to sound fuller. You'll get some bounce back, and weird reverb depending on where you're standing, but not as much as hard walls. The bigger the tent gets the odder the sound will be in terms of reverb etc.
  18. Clearly you're not using it right in the first place if you've gotten bored with it by now!
  19. I'm actually a fan of the new designs. It's a presentation of our heritage in an interesting and modern way - the best of both worlds. Yes, change for change sake isn't the right attitude, but blindly sticking with something because it's tradition has no merit either.
  20. After some consideration I think I'm going to head to this. A few names on the lineup which I haven't seen in some time, plus I missed out on any festivals last year. Would be good to get a contingent from here out there.
  21. All I can say is go on Rio. I can't stand Terry and Gerrard was a terrible skipper.
  22. Arrived a few days ago. To say I have been putting it into heavy rotation would be somewhat of an understatement!
  23. Tune wise, I think Jules had a bit of an upward turn in 2004. The essential mix he did live from the Tidy Weekender with Haslam and the Tidy boys was excellent, save for a bit of dodgy acapella application. Good mix of techy trancy stuff going on. It seems there were lots of nice trance numbers around this time. Matt Darey had a stormer of a year in 2004 in my book.
  24. No probs. Tracklist should be fairly easy. Loads of big tunes in there: F&W, Thrillseekers, Dogzilla, Digital Delay, etc. Just haven't got round to sitting down with notepad open and going though it all. Should be a few more where this came from too.
