Moonman
i only ever went on the internet on my lunch break, i was too busy to go on it any other time. You do make a fair point, but the flipside to that is, if people still get their work done to the standard thats expected then what harm is there in letting employees use the internet? Which to be honest, my mate did more than what was expected of him. As long as their work got done i wouldnt mind as long as they werent overdoing it. In a call centre it would be different i guess (which is what i did IT for). If people are going to sit in "After Call" when they should be taking calls - well then thats punishable. Chrissie Brown
That's a fair comment. However l worked in "Payroll" and unfortunately we never had any spare time .
KR Tech
Sounds like you had a scrape there Stuart, can't have been a good feeling being pulled aside like that. There is a lot of monitoring these days as you can understand every company wants to protect itself. KR
Moonman
yes, to say i felt a bit of an idiot going in there in front of everyone is an understatement. Especially seeing as i only had a few weeks to see out until i started my new job...i was bricking it about them finding out. I see their point completely about viruses etc and i'm savvy enough to know about them, but other people may not. I daren't even go on the internet on the police computers now. Lesson learnt i think! Aza
I daren't even go on the internet on the police computers now. Lesson learnt i think! Ive come across a few case studies in uni about the police and all that with computers. They are exempt from the DPA and more often than not, you would not believe how many you the Police National Computer (PNC) for personal gain! Quadrant
By the way, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, is it actually illegal to view adult pornopraphic images on the web? I've never really been sure... :ermm:
Moonman
Don't worry Bjorn I've installed Windows Wiper (aptly named) and some History clearing progs - all a bit of a laugh really between the guys in the office as we sabotage some of the young girls' PCs whilst they're away. i'm pretty sure there is some sort of data protection law being broken right there!! Simcut
I'm sorry but anyone that views pornography at work, is first of all a t**t, and should be sacked.
Judge Mental
I disagree to an extent lol, as ever And it doesn't even affect me, being a chef, nearest thing I get to internet porn is a microwave lol. But if you're in one of these easy wee office jobs ( ), and stare at a computer all day every day, then if someone gets bored, porns a fair way to deal with the boredom. At least you're getting paid for going and doing 'something' in the toilet at your managers expense just after the porn is switched off by you haha As long as you wash your hands after then fair enough! Where's the real harm, could take as long as a cigarette break lol
Quadrant
This is disgraceful! Will someone answer my question or does no-one know? Neuro
Well I believe standard adult pornography is legal actually (someone correct me if not), but veer off to anything obscure or start paying dodgy sites and I would have thought that sometime, somewhere, your trail of internet activity will eventually catch up with you... Stick to medieval sites and castles or whatever you like so much Quadders is what I say!
Briggsy
I believe pornography in the UK is legal - after all, the tax man hasn't reported me yet - and he's seen all those companies that pay me for those films i've starred in..... Debbie does Dallas? Sod that - its not a patch on Briggsy does Basingstoke :oddcake:

Number2Fan
What an apt thread for my day today!! Today as I got 5 mins to sign into facebook, I thought I'd use the faster computer that belongs to my 'other half' as I typed in face and somehow the cursor had moved to the googe search bar, a few suggestion came up for FACE F**KING websites. After the initial surprise at thinking I must have read it wrong I decided to click on a face f***ing search and al manner of results came up, where it was referred to as ' Facial Abuse ' it was at that point I chose not to look any further. Now it's been a bad day and I literally had to leave for work as my fella walked in the door having been to work, and I just mentioned that I wanted to have a word with him later about some sites he'd been to that began with the word face. He said it wasn't him, but when I pointed out it weren't me or my children that had written the other word in, I went to work and left him to it! LMFAO!! When I got back from work he was re-installing firefox??? LOLOL BUSTED This will be my source of hilarity from now til at least Christmas!!! "Face f***er!!" :blackeye:
Quadrant
Poor guy. Don't be too harsh on him! He should have known in Firefox you can simply go to Tools, Start Private Browsing.... yes sir!
