Briggsy
Posting on behalf of Jules, there are no scheduled changes to Jules' show or any other specialist Radio 1 slots, as far as he is aware... Good to hear! I didn't think it'd be possible with Jules covering JS in Ibiza for the bets part of three and a half months per year. Dangerous Dave is irreplaceable - that show is his. Jules wouldn't sound right on that. I'm pretty sure it'll be rumours triggered by Jules standing in as a one-off that time.

Good stuff Tim. And fair play to Jules, as always, for making the effort to respond. It stimulated a bit of debate tho! Maybe we should do it every now and again...maybe not
Max Kane
The rumoured schedule has appeared, no idea where it has come from & with Jules saying there are no plans to change things I doubt it's true, but it does look interesting... bigsteve
I'm sticking with what Jules says I've seen stuff like this before and got drawn into the debate, so I'm holding off on this one!

Yeah, that don't look right to me. For starters, I don't think Eddie would settle with an 11pm til 1am radio show on a Friday. That would seriously affect his clubbing commitments. Thats a time he'd be playing in a club. I doubt they'd broadcast live from clubs because that would go against Radio 1's policy of trying to cut down on the amount of "live" shows from clubs. Moonman
firstly, i always say, there's no smoke without fire. Something will happen or change. Secondly, why give Eddie Halliwell the Friday night slot? That slot is nothing but bad luck. Remebr when Fergie had it? He should never have left R1, and i hope the same doesnt happen to Eddie. I mena, Eddie show will be on when his core audience i.e Clubbers, will be out clubbing anyway!?! so why put him on then, thats what they did wrong with Fergie. Thirdly, Trophy Twins!?! do me a favour, they should be on AFTER Judge Jules. I mean, they're okay, but I think for the Saturday warm up you need someone gets things well and truly warmed up. I'm always getting ready to go out when Jules is on the radio and it does get me in the mood, i cant see the trophy twins doing that. Oh, well, another bugger up from R1
Chrissie Brown
I'm sticking with what Jules says I've seen stuff like this before and got drawn into the debate, so I'm holding off on this one! Me to. BTW Steve, Are you going to see Jules tonight?
bigsteve
Yes Chrissie I am! I'm well chuffed to be going, it was a last minute thing that was sorted out late this week, thanks to MunkiBoy Its not the best IO line up I've ever seen, but thankfully Jules is on early (11.15-1.15) so hopefully he won't get too caught up with playing too much techy stuff. http://www.insideoutforever.com/io_arches.php (btw, Jules and IO don't agree with his set time!) Its my 1st Arches visit of the year, so I am very up for it!! Will be good to catch up with Craig again, although I've got a very important day at work on Monday, so can't get too trolleyed. Briggsy
To be fair to Radio 1, they hung on to Fergie a lot longer than expected. He hit his peak at a very young age and has gone downhill ever since. He's lost a lot of respect in clubland. Despite still being relatively young, he no longer pulls in audiences that he once did. He was well liked in his Hard House days, but he changed his sound, and Hard House went another direction too - and when he changed to that weird Techno sound, nobody really moved over with him. Also, his guest mixes on the radio were pretty limited - I think it must have been Phil Keiran every other week. Tong and Jules have lost some respect over the years, but despite thatm they still have huge fanbases, Fergie though, never had such a big fan base, and that has drastically reduced even more recently. The same happened to Seb Fontaine! Radio 1 took them both on three years too late.
Moonman
well he's just announced they are going to be doing a live show from Coloursfest in June, so he aint going anywhere soon... Some valid points about Fergie. BUT, his wonky techno what-yer-ma-call-it is the current trend in dance music...he was playing this 2 years ago... Anyways, gotta jet folks, i have to get ready now. enjoy your night peeps/
Max Kane
Fergie was a great signing at the time for R1 as he was very much the 'in' DJ, his sound changed pretty drastically & quite quickly aswell. When he began playing the more pumping techo (Kanzyani type stuff) i thought it was excellent, he kept the energy but had moved on musically, it was only when he moved to the more minimal type stuff that he suffered. I just don't think that kinda of music has any personality & isn't good for radio.
Moonman
yeah, then they go and sign Misstress De Funk who plays minimal?
dormouse
A nice debate but all fictional, I'm sure. Jules would be amongst the first to hear of any schedule changes - and I can't see Radio 1 getting rid of Dave Pearce personally, or "downgrading" the most well-known British DJ to a "classics" show... Quadrant
If this is true, I dont think the beeb would be very happy about someone leaking that timetable!
Aza
No 'plans' these days seem watertight no more... We got CEO of Newspapers tapping voicemails and phone calls on the Royals. The BBC News even spotting leaked letters from the government! The only that baffled me of recent was the release of the 'Xbox Elite'... That seemed a bit random if anything, but is a blatent combat to rival the PS3.
