Tremor
This is good listening people, you can even here the crackle of vinyl, and the touches on the crossfader, this is totally Jules at his best! certainly is great listening. It's always good to hear a set in context of the time it was recorded. By that I mean that looking over the tracklist it is about half and half of tunes we all know and remember from the titles which went on to become classics, and other tunes which were in Jules's box at the time and which are also quality tunes but ones you've never really heard of again since. I like listening to sets like this now rather than a pure classics set because you can see how the classics were originally put in sets before they got big or commercial. Number2Fan
Abso-fu*king-lutely!! Though I'm gonna say 70/30 as we're all quite knowledgable on these tunes While I played it, I was thinking WOW some of the tunes in here were tunes I took not much notice of att because by comparison (ATT) they weren't that amazing, but hearing them today in amongst some of the regulars and the ones featured on many CD's I realised that these too, were Amazing tracks that also put many of todays offerings to shame. Actually I never got through the whole lot yet, so lots to look forward to tomorrow. This is why I was in love with Judge Jules!! This reminded me of that fact. Number2Fan
Just finished playing this. This is quite possibly the best mix on this site. Certainly IMO it is. AWESOME!!! In 1999 Jules was GOD!!!
Moonman
I like listening to sets like this now rather than a pure classics set because you can see how the classics were originally put in sets before they got big or commercial. Thats spot on that, mate. Thats the beauty of the archives, and to some extent, Simcuts collection. It also gives us the chance to get a feel for the culture and the vibe of the time (well it does me anyway). Its funny how obvious the classics are now, but at the time, we knew when we heard them, how special some of these tracks were, but often when they were breaking, people wouldn't know what they were. Number2Fan
That's right, in fact when Airwave came on my daughter said, you used to play this when I was little mummy, and I told her about where I was when I first heard it, and how Jules had played it, and just how amazing a time it was. (how drenched in sweat I was on the podium lol) But my fave thing about this mix and the time is THE BPM! I miss that energy, and the mixture of tunes being played, from start to finish!! FuzzY-LogiC
04. Samuel L Session - 'Nod 'n' Headz' [Cycle]05. Novy v Eniac - 'Pumpin' (Timo Maas Mix) [Additive] They just work in perfect sync together... It sounds like Jules keep 'Nod 'n' Headz' in the background almost until he mixes in House of Bamboo, so I'm thinking he might be mixing on three decks? Or maybe he just changed records really fast and was quick on the pitch fader... anyway... GREAT set and superb mixing!
JasonB
That Samuel L Session track is only about 4 minutes long, from a 4 track ep all 4 tracks are short dj tool kinda tracks pretty much
