Loved the first tune, mean and moody, and also Marco Bailey, Matt Cooper and PE and Ban. Just out of interest, what do you use to find new music? Podcasts? Do you get sent much by way of promo's? I find Beatport et al mindnumbingly tedious to sift through. I'd like to start to listen to a bit more of this sort of style, the trance podcasts are all fairly obvious. Max Kane Posted January 20, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 20, 2012 Thanks for listening mate :thumbsup: It is difficult to find the kind of techno that I'm into (and is featured on the show) at present - but that's part of the appeal for me right now, playing music which isn't widely available and which isn't particularly mainstream. I would recommend soundcloud as an excellent place to start - I follow artists on there and then in turn check out some of the artists that they follow or play in their sets/feature on their labels and you'd be amazed by how many wicked producers you can discover. I do get some promo stuff through but (as I forged whatever credibility I may have ever had in trance/prog circles) most of them are not up to scratch - again soundcloud has opened doors, as well known artists host their bootlegs/edits on there and unknowns send me stuff - which is often very, very good! I do still use beatport extensively - the MyBeatport function is a God-send and saves a lot of sifting - basically I have begun "following" artists and labels which I like and then beatport notifies me when they have a new release out. I also spend a good bit of time over the weekend just browsing - checking out an artist I know is good and then seeing which label(s) their on, then checking out other artists on that label, artists they have remixed, etc, etc. It takes loads more work than the old sound I played but I feel envigorated by it and right now I'm really into it! Never knew about the Mybeatport thing either, I must set that up for myself. I assume it's just through my beatport account? I suppose it's the now well worn addage that's used all the time now; you have to put the time in to get the gems. I think the fact that I am still only interesting in bedroom dj'ing and experimenting with different styles and sounds, means my appetite for sitting through so much music is much less than it should be. Especially as I still listen to a lot of trance, and we all know what it's like trying to find some of that we like nowadays! If I was using the music for playing out or something, I suppose I would be much more invested in the search. Anyway, thanks again, much appreciated. Keep the Showcases coming!!
