A "new" oldskool mix CD by Judge Jules from 95 found
Jivemaster replied to DJTomasB's topic in Open Chat
Haha I have this oldskool CD, also think he did a "Smoke Free" CD around this time as well which is ironic as I'm pretty sure he used to smoke. This is more in line with epic/progressive house at the time rather than the bizarre mixture of bing bang bong, funky, whizzpop house and garage with the occasional dabbling of jingles and Trance common to many Jules sets. -
Jules mix of "Gladiator" - Homelands 2001
Jivemaster replied to Chrissie Brown's topic in Judge Jules Audio
Jeez and there I was hoping that someone had acquired it lol. Guess we can all dream hehe -
It's an instrumental/dub version of Felix - Don't You Want Me which was played out by both Dave Pearce and Scott Bond and was featured on Dave Pearce's True Euphoria as Felix - Don't You Want Me (Bootleg Mix) and as a the first track in Scott Bond's FantasyLands Winter Event in 2007 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khMqMjDHZ2E The closest that I can find is the Pants & Corset Remix but this has the Martin Luther King Speech layered all over it and doesn't offer an instrumental/dub on the white label which makes me think that it could well be an earlier released remix and Pants and Corset have applied the Martin Luther King acapella........Really not sure on this and was wondering if anybody could shed any light on this please?

why not just ask him?

Jules - Charity Board Mix (and you choose the tracks!)
Jivemaster replied to Neuro's topic in Open Chat
Personally when a big name like Jules says he doesn't have it anymore, I take that as he can't be bothered to dig the DAT/CDR out to convert it. from a DJ's perspective, there's no real gain for him. This was a tune he promoted exclusively in his sets and it stood out. I also sincerely doubt that he would have the only copy. He is getting more positive feedback as of late and the fact that he is trying to play oldskool trance now instead of championing that god awful edm/electro gash by supporting some of his main signature tunes gives us some hope. -
Jules - Charity Board Mix (and you choose the tracks!)
Jivemaster replied to Neuro's topic in Open Chat
Think all the ones I'd go for have been pretty much mentioned. Neuro, please get him to play his version of "Gladiator" / "Gladius - Now we are free" , it has not been played for 14 years and it'll add something special to the mix. -
Jules - Charity Board Mix (and you choose the tracks!)
Jivemaster replied to Neuro's topic in Open Chat
Would be cool if Jules were to dig out his own version of Gladiator seeing as we've all been going on about it so much. Heck, I'm sure he could even auction that for the charity too -
Yer, there must be also some other djs that have it as well as Jules mentioned that it was well supported.
-
Where did Briggsy's post go?
-
I'm sure we'd all love to conclude this, it's such a great track . Just listened to that clip where he talks about it and he mentions that loads of djs were supporting his bootleg on CD (I think that's what he says). I seem to vaguely recall Scott Bond supporting a Gladiator Trance bootleg which could quite possibly be Jules's version. He was part of Serious DJ agency back then and was managed by Jules's brother Sam, so supporting material as well as Serious record label tracks would usually go hand in hand. I just seem to remember it went down well at Gatecrasher but am not familiar with any other DJs who played it. That tracklisting looks excellent Aza!! That's a proper Judge Jules "Trance" tracklisting. None of the housey stuff, just proper Trance, looks great! I'd certainly encourage you to ask him again and anybody else on this forum to see if we can get a copy. I'm sure persistence is the key and I really don't see any reason why he can't just make it available for download now especially with the amount of bootlegs being given away by respective big names these days due to the simple fact that they simply can't get clearance. In the mean-time, does anybody have this Hans Zimmer - Gladiator Theme (Judge Jules Remix) (Tim Traill's Acetate Reconstruction)? I saw that Fuzzy posted it a good 5 years back.

I'd love to agree with you but I've never seen Jules as a producer, just don't think he's particularly production savy enough to pull off a full-on trance bootleg like that unless there's a ghost producer in the background Facebook and Twitter, for instance Darren Tate is @darrentate Paul Masterson - https://www.facebook.com/YOMANDAMUSIC Darren Tate - https://www.facebook.com/darrentatemusic (Like Page) and normal facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610901637&fref=ts
