  1. Really enjoyed listening to this guys - great work on pulling it together - thanks to all involved. It's been a while since I checked out the board but thanks to Aza for drawing my attention to this mix and also to his superb B side mix - great work sir!

It was great to hear the Hi-Gate remix of Starfighter in this mix - a tune I rather glossed over at the time and never had! I have the original on vinyl but never got the remix - have to say I think I prefer the remix now.

Also great to see the original instrumental Solex from Michael Woods - a mighty tune indeed - big memories from 2003 for me :)

  2. Yeah although I'm genuinely not bitter about this particular tune. At the end of the day it's a quality tune and it's cool that everyone can obtain it now all these years later. I hope it doesn't become massively over played in classics sets though. That's another factor which is slightly annoying. All the tunes we complain are always churned out on classics mixes are probably played so much because they are easy to get hold of. I do like to play classics mixes with some less obvious gems in there that people will remember but not everyone has therefore they dont feature in everyone's classics sets.

The other thing is the vinyl copy will still be as rare as always and I can still be happy to have that. Rather than getting rid of my vinyl as many people are doing these days, I still like to add to the collection with some of those gems I could never find back in the day.

  3. I have complained on here many times about labels' irresponsible attitude towards their catalogue pre-"digital" era i.e. not bothering to release or digitize their back catalogue before 2003... now I see another top quality label (which I thought had folded forever) now fully resurrected and selling it's Trance gems from 1999.

I'm split over this issue. It takes the fun out of vinyl hunting when suddenly every man (or woman) and their dog can download a track which was previously a rarity. I would still happily snap up a proper vinyl copy of a much loved rarity despite it being available on MP3 but it does take something away from it because you could just download the tune and have it. On the other hand when you just cant find an old tune on vinyl anywhere you begin to wish the label would just release the MP3 so you can have it. I guess a part of us wants what we cant have but if we have something dont want everone else to have it. I had an MP3 of 'Church of Ra' for a few years before tracking down the vinyl. It was a pretty decent vinyl rip that someone else sent me. It never really felt like I'd owned the tune legitimately though so I was very pleased to get a copy in good condition. I then deleted the previous rip I had and ripped the vinyl I'd bought. It somehow then felt like I had a legitimate MP3 as well.

Anyway I'm pleased for all those who've been after this one for years. It's great to finally get hold of a tune. I guess there will always be some tunes that will never get released on MP3 and the vinyls will at least truly stay a real collector's item.

  4. Wow lots of new faces. It's great to see more people getting involved in the discussions. This board is a fantastic resource for archived audio and ID'ing tracks through the tracklistings but it's also a place for great friendly discussion and reminiscing. Look forward to chatting to some more of you on here.

  5. Cool mate. I started buying in 2000 but didn't really know where to get the rare promos and imports so a fair amount of tunes back then I really wanted but couldn't get hold of and now they are all available on Discogs pretty much.. it's awesome. I got John Jornick - 'Wecko' the other day - you might recognise it if you ever heard the live show from Karanga @ Creation in Bristol. Been looking for that tune for years!

  6. Tim I think you have very similar tastes to me. I have recently bought quite a few of the same tracks you are buying. That for me was the best era for tunes.. all about 2000. Club robbers - search for the ball can be got as MP3 tho so I decided to go that route with that track. Got Rompa Stompa and rejected EP earlier this year though.

  7. Mate that sucks. I'd be well pissed off too if it happened to me. I'm afraid I don't know of anything you can do with a record which is actually broken into pieces. I hope you manage to find another copy.

Looking at the rest of your post - I've wanted to know the remix of Olive Jules was playing in 2000 for years! Need to update that ID into the board tracklist archive because on those tracklists it still says Unknown remix White Label. I also recently purchased Eufex - Junkie Monkey..... what a tune... I love how Jules used to delve into hard house and slow it down a bit, or house and speed it up a bit... anything he could make fit into a set he would and it didn't have to be a particular genre.

  8. Hi Chewbains. welcome to the board. From reading Fuzzy's reply above it looks like one post is all it takes to be able to download. We just all love to have a good chat about the music on here so we can all get more out of the audio on offer. I guess the 1 post thing is just to encourage people to join up and get involved with the discussions. Otherwise there could be loads of people coming accross the site and downloading stuff but we would never know it. It's great to hear how the music has had an impact on those who find it here and we all just love to chat about the good old days of trance so hopefully you'll fit right in here. No need to be shy this is a very friendly message board and it's the only one I ever post on for that reason. I really hope you enjoy all the site has to offer and I'm sure you'll discover lots of those missing tune ID's on here as many of us have over the years.

  9. I've also noticed another important little fact.

This show was moved from its usual 5:00pm - 7:00pm slot to 7:00pm - 9:00pm slot for one week only. I remember this at the time and Jules also mentions the 2 hour difference when he announces last year's tried and tested tune.

I believe Dave Pearce was then on at 9:00pm - 10:00pm

I think this was to provide a more natural flow as Seb Fontaine was probably moved to 5:00pm - 7:00pm as his style would have been more of a natural warm up for Jules.. I can't confirm that though... my memory is a bit hazy of that fact.

  10. Sorry sirs, but isn't this the "Kayestone Re-Con Mix"? Nothing to do with Da Hool!?

I believe you are right Sir.

I've just been entering tracklists to the new tracklist section of the board and came accross this mistake there too.. I have corrected in the new tracklist.

Also the audio problems with Darude - Sandstorm seem obvious to me: Jules is trying to do a DJ trick with 2 copies of the tune. However he has not properly matched the audio level between the 2 channels on the mixer - hence one sounds much louder than the other. Also he has not properly matched the speeds - one is much faster than the other which is very noticeable since the pitch is obviously way different too. There won't be a better copy of the set out there since the errors were surely in the way Jules was doing the live extended mix.

  11. Tim that's fine. Can only board mods be the "hands on deck" here or can anyone help? I have a fair bit of time at the moment to help out with this and I am passionate about doing tracklistings properly to the correct format. Hopefully my recent bank holiday show tracklist will back this up. Thing is I would need to see the old tracklists to convert them or move them as you say. If I can be of help and you want to explain the full procedure of what I need to do then get in touch mate and I'll get involved.

  12. Hi guys...

Could you just clear something up for me?

Has the old site been taken down with a veiw to put all the tracklistings as part of the messageboard rather than the old web page. Only I can't find the link on here anymore to the old site.

Was looking for a tracklist from 2000 the other day and in the "tracklisting archive" section of the board there are only 3 entries where as before there were loads.

Can we still view the old tracklistings archive whilst this new part of the message board takes shape?

    I'm just a little confused.

    Thanks

  13. Jeremy Healey

The Act - 'Something About You' (DJ Garry Remix) [spot On]

ID with Moloko - 'The Time Is Now (Echo)

Bleachin' - 'Peakin'' (Unknown Version) [bMG]

Yomanda - 'Sunshine' (Hi-Gate Remix) [Manifesto]

Also the track with Moloko sounds a bit like Dave Aude - Push That Thing.... it could be a remix but that's a guess.

  15. not exactly sure how many tunes are in between summersault and the next one I can ID but certainly a few tunes after is:

Art of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix) [Platipus]

Unknown - 7 Seconds (Unknown Remix) [White Label]

Space Brothers - Heaven Will Come [Manifesto] - not sure which mix as I dont have it.

I have that 7 seconds remix on vinyl but all it says on it is "7 seconds" and the same on Discogs - no info on the remixer.

Maybe someone can help to incorporate these into the tracklist. They are the last 3 tunes played in order

  16. well yeah it's certainly nice to get to know some of these people and have them get involved and contribute to the comunity on here. I'd be interested to know how many users join and just make the minimum number of posts required and then download to their hearts content. I guess they are welcome to do so but why not get involved in the board I say. We are all friendly enough Im sure.
