  1. This track does nothing for me at all. There is no point in Eddie producing if he's gonna churn out run of the mill stuff like this. I agree with other comments that no one would even pay this the slightest bit of notice except for the fact its by a well known DJ. An unknown producer submitting this would surely get nowhere with it. Or maybe they would which just highlights how stale the sound is getting. Eddie should have stuck to what he did well... proper banging boshy tech-trance.

  2. Cheese I love the fact you are voting for Darren Styles. Is that based on seeing him recently or just voting for him as a hardcore legend? Personally I thought he was amazing in 2002/2003 and I like some stuff he's produced in the last few years but he has got much cheesier as well in recent years.

Came across this old mix I did on my iPod this week. At the time I was very happy with this set and remember mixing it at Uni and handing out demo CDs to my course mates. Thought I'd upload it for you guys if you fancy a look back at a great period for trance.

  5. Yeah you're spot on about the mix sequence. Love that cd, still dig it out regularly. Mixed Ayla in perfectly after that on the cd. Just flowed so well. Is it Red Light or Ayla that has the irregular beat, ie not 4/4, it's 5/4 or something like that? I know one of them is very tricky to mix, but Jules nails it perfectly on that cd. Sigh.........................

It's Red Light that has the weird bar structure. I finally got it on vinyl a couple of years ago but have barely ever mixed it as it's so difficult.

  6. This looks quality! Some great tracks and similar to Tom some of the ones that got me into dance/trance. One of my first dance albums was the Clubber's Guide to Ibiza '98 which also featured many of the tracks in this set. Notably he ends with his trademark mix of DJ Nervous - Jack the Groove into Red Light District - Did You Hear Me?

Remember when DJ's used to have trademark mixes like this? Basically 2 tracks they would always play together and mix them the same. I believe this was one of them and the same tracks are mixed together on the clubber's guide to Ibiza.

  8. Yeah although I'm genuinely not bitter about this particular tune. At the end of the day it's a quality tune and it's cool that everyone can obtain it now all these years later. I hope it doesn't become massively over played in classics sets though. That's another factor which is slightly annoying. All the tunes we complain are always churned out on classics mixes are probably played so much because they are easy to get hold of. I do like to play classics mixes with some less obvious gems in there that people will remember but not everyone has therefore they dont feature in everyone's classics sets.

The other thing is the vinyl copy will still be as rare as always and I can still be happy to have that. Rather than getting rid of my vinyl as many people are doing these days, I still like to add to the collection with some of those gems I could never find back in the day.

  9. No worries mate. I checked out 'Venus' too and loving that as well. I think that's my favourite but both great tunes. I'm well thankyou mate, just busy busy busy over the summer with work. Trying to make time in between it all to keep up the mixing and checking out new tunes! Hope you're well

  10. I have complained on here many times about labels' irresponsible attitude towards their catalogue pre-"digital" era i.e. not bothering to release or digitize their back catalogue before 2003... now I see another top quality label (which I thought had folded forever) now fully resurrected and selling it's Trance gems from 1999.

I'm split over this issue. It takes the fun out of vinyl hunting when suddenly every man (or woman) and their dog can download a track which was previously a rarity. I would still happily snap up a proper vinyl copy of a much loved rarity despite it being available on MP3 but it does take something away from it because you could just download the tune and have it. On the other hand when you just cant find an old tune on vinyl anywhere you begin to wish the label would just release the MP3 so you can have it. I guess a part of us wants what we cant have but if we have something dont want everone else to have it. I had an MP3 of 'Church of Ra' for a few years before tracking down the vinyl. It was a pretty decent vinyl rip that someone else sent me. It never really felt like I'd owned the tune legitimately though so I was very pleased to get a copy in good condition. I then deleted the previous rip I had and ripped the vinyl I'd bought. It somehow then felt like I had a legitimate MP3 as well.

Anyway I'm pleased for all those who've been after this one for years. It's great to finally get hold of a tune. I guess there will always be some tunes that will never get released on MP3 and the vinyls will at least truly stay a real collector's item.

  11. Needs more replies/listens not just views, all you bosh monkeys give this a go, superb mate, right up my alleyway.

Yes fair comment Jason. I saw this and did intend to check it out anyway but thanks for the kick up the backside... This mix is sounding great on a relaxed Sunday afternoon whilst I'm sorting through my Traktor music libraries. I do like a nice chilled or progressive trance mix every now and again. Top stuff Noff!

  12. I thought about the X1 as well as that would have solved my problem in regards to getting more out of the Traktor software but finally decided to take massive step and switch completely over.

DJM-600 sold already. Just need to get rid of the 1000 & 200 then I can purchase the S4. B)

Nice one. I don't want to switch over completely because I still like to mix my vinyls quite often. I have my Technics 1200's permanently set up ready for action hence I want to keep traditional external mixer. Also my CDJ's are connected to the mixer with the Traktor phono looms, allowing normal CD playback down 2 channels and Traktor audio down the other 2 channels. I like to keep all options open!
