bigsteve Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Just read on Teletext that only 3000 poeple went, out of a capacity of 30,000 and there were still 53 arrests  There's rumours that tickets were being sold on the gate for £7, when full price was £60. Maybe word spread about the police presence or somehting :? If ticket sales were so low leading up to it, I'm suprised it wasn't pulled ***EDIT*** Found this news item, which has slightly different figures, but still a well-low turnout http://musicnews.virgin.net/Virgin/Lifesty...4_music,00.html Quote
Max Kane Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I saw this aswell, lots of trouble and a full on raid by Police, turnout is very dissapointing but with it being so early and with them having 2 split festivals what did they expect? There was no real brand to it either, just Gods trying to cash in on the Homelands crowd. Think they got overly ambitious with it anyway booking bands and everything else, didn't they stop to think why Homelands itself wasn't continuing? Quote
Chrissie Brown Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Anyone know if Hi Fi South (Homelands old site) at Matterley Bowl, Winchester was any better. Quote
Dewi Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Hifi north was raided, one of the stages was pulled at the last moment (cos of the low ticket sales) and only had 3000 ppl... South wasn't much better but there was also a stabbing  Quote
Neuro Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 The police sound as if it's their aim to achieve low-turn outs for such events: Chief Superintendent Graham Pears of Northumbria Police said: "The policing operation went well, the crowd was well below original estimates." Quote
Max Kane Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 They just seem to love being anti-social sometimes, it's quite annoying. Quote
