Aza
I am in the process of saving for a dvd surround - preferably a sony as they are meant to be the best (unless any of you guys believes different?) Anyways, just wondering, is it possible to get dvd players that can play avi files with converting them to VOB dvd files?

Aza
Are you not aware of ".avi" files? These are movie file just like mpegs and are usually what you find movies in. To convert them to dvd you need to encode them etc so that the machine will understand them (usually in the form of ".vob" files, which I think stands for "video object"). I want a dvd player that can play ".avi" files (if poss...)

Neuro
Those VOB files or whatever they are have gone way over my head! Sorry Aza! Can you covert avi to vob easily?? :?
Aza
Yeh you can covert them, but: 1) It takes a fair few hours to do 2) I have been having probs with converting them myself. The sound does not keep up with the motion picture i.e someone walking down the street and you can see him say hi, but the words dont come out till he turns the corner like (if you get me) Plus my mate has got some movies in ".avi" format, which I want to just watch, but cant be bothered converted them and all that!
