Max Kane
New Wolves manager, i can't decide if it's an amazing coup or just another ex-international manager coming to frustrate us for another year or so, his appointment coincidentally on the day i recieved my season ticket thru the post, how many more years should i waste £350 on Wolves? Briggsy
I suspected that Mick McCarthy was going to be our new manager yesterday when we signed Gary Breen. To be honest, I think he'll be a good manager for us. If he hadn't got the job, then I'd have wanted to see Paul Ince or Steve Bull given a chance. They had no experience, but we've wasted enough on "big named" managers in the past. Hoddle was possibly the worst manager we've had since Mark McGhee. Mick McCarthy is young, hungry, and quite down to earth. I think the players will respect him, he'll work well with the youngsters, and his record in this league is pretty good. He worked miracles with the Republic of Ireland, and only struggled as Sunderland because he wasn't given anything to spend when they went up. They played some good football under him under the circumstances. He certainly couldn't be any worse than Hoddle, who specialised in draws and conceding last minute goals because the defenders were always playing on the half way line. We had players out of position just to accomodate Darren "i'm Hoddle's bum chum and must play at every club he manages" Anderton. I'm afraid Wolves's days as a "sleeping giant" are over though. If we're lucky, we'll finish about 7th from bottom next season. We've sold our best players, we're not going to spend money any more, and some of the youngsters we've brought through aren't good enough for that league. Jez Moxey needs to get a grip and realise that you can't expect to sell your best players and still expect to go up. Our key players this year, if they keep fit, are Paul Ince, Carl Cort, Lee Naylor and Mark Clyde (he'll get more games now Lescott has gone). Its a shame Ndah had to retire - he'd have been a gem in that league next year. He was a good player for us, but very much like how Tony Daley used to be - he'd play one match, then spend 20 in the Physio's room. Get Oakes out of goal too and put Murray in. Matt Murray is class. That Steffan Postma last year was dire - he was the worst keeper on our books, but he was another Hoddle bum chum. Bring it on Mick and give Jez Mozey a kick up the arse for us - he's a pratt!!
